Tudo a cascar no homem de inicio mas a verdade é que uma das ultimas coisas que o Lage corrigiu nas dinâmicas da equipa foi o posicionamento do ponta de lança quando a equipa tem a bola. Quando se corrigiu isso os golos naturalmente apareceram, porque a qualidade esteve sempre lá.

Saindo o Gyokeres este é o melhor ponta de lança em PT, com margem. Samu apesar dos golos é um projecto de jogador que ainda tem bastante que evoluir com e sem bola.

É um jogador até com boa leitura de jogo, mas depois tem dois tijolos em vez de pés e será essa a razão pela qual a carreira dele será ou em ligas secundárias ou em bottom teams se chegar a uma Premier League.

O Pavlidis é bom jogador, mas calma lá. Até parece que mais de meio fórum não lhe andou a cagar em cima. Agora já o comparam com o sueco, e alguns disfarçadamente já dão a entender que se calhar até é melhor que o sueco. Não contem comigo para estas merdas. Mas hey, tranquilo, sejam felizes.

Se mantiver a performance, pode-se depois entrar em comparações. Mas são jogadores tão diferentes que se torna dificil comparar.

I agree that is is quite difficult to comapre the two currently. They play quite different. For me Gyokeres big advantage is his physicality, shot and he is excellent in off-side handling as well. His biggest weakness is 0 defensive and pressing (behind the attack) contribution.

I can't say that Pavlidis is better than Gyokeres yet, but Gyokeres is certainly up to one degree overated.

Let's compare cold hard numbers and stats :

Pavlidis 0.98 G/A per 90' if you remove penalties it drops to 0.82

2.
Gyokeres has scored 31 goals - 12 penalties = 19 goals in 63 Shots on Target : 0.30 goals per shot on Target

Pavlidis has scored 14 goals - 3 penalties = 11 goals in 30 Shots on Target : 0.37 goals per shot on Target

So maybe the "fact" that Pavlidis misses a lot of chances isn't such a "fact"

3. Gyokeres plays 84' per game, Pavlidis just 63'

Considering that Gyokeres plays 21' more per game, shoots 4x more penalties and Pavlidis had a slow start.
Add the fact that Pavlidis contributes more  defensively and in game behind the attack, when Gyokeres  does nothing there.

Are they that far then ? Especially in the current form.

It's quite a good analysis. But yes, Gyokeres is that "typical" selfish striker, likes to lead the attacking line, carries the ball, always looking forward, but doesn't get much involved in the build-up, rarely drops deep with or without ball unless, but his personality is very determined. He finds himself more confortable leading the line, making runs into the channels and always positioning himself to either finish or receive the ball on the final third.

Pavlidis is much more a team player: he reads the game, goes near the zone where the ball is being played and actually likes to drop deep and give the midfield the extra  number at times, will be focused on cutting passing lanes when defending and will take less risks in terms of losing possession.
