On that " How to infuriate Europeans with one sentence" map, that sentence for Hungarians is: Hungary is beautiful, love Budapest ;D From these pics I can see that Portugal is a lot more than Lisbon, Porto and their surroundings. I would live to visit one day. :)
Well I live now in Budapest and i would say that what make Hungarians really angry is name one of the cities that were part of their country before Trianon Accords and call it Romanian, Serbian or Slovak. They go ape shit about it. And yes Hungary is Budapest and nothing else, as we say in PT "the rest of the country is just landscape" hehehe

Very nice topic, the father of my father was born in Tavira, Algarve.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqu4JZALx70

But on the 30's he moved to Luanda, Angola (On that time Portuguese colony)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-aupx36nZE

where he met my grandmother, from Rio Maior.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziq_9wotVRA

My father and his 11 siblings were born there. During the colonial war half of the family moved to Portugal, Brazil, USA and UK. But my father stayed (he was the 3rd oldest son and was in the army). The war was mostly concentrated on the North and there he met my mom.

My family is the tipical Portuguese-Angolan family, we live in both countries at same time (going and coming all the time) and of course we all almost all Benfica fanatics (except my brother Fernando, Fernando is a jackass(Porto Fan)  :drunk:

Are there many Portuguese left in Luanda?

Tavira looks like a good place for a holiday.

Indeed! Tavira is located in a touristic region called Algarve, where you can find plenty of pleasant places to spend a holiday. Try to find out more about Algarve in the internet.

As an advise, the best time in the year to spend holidays there is between mid-June and mid-July. The sea water is warm and it's not so crowded.

They lost the war, as simple as that and we paid it in blood without any help. Just like we lost our control previously. Time was up for the Austro-Hungarian empire or eny empire for that matter.

I agree but tell that to Hungarians hehehe
For the two big wars they stood on the wrong side and lost, all their fault, but still they cry about it, specially the ones who would support the same poor decisions if they were made now in 2018.

I'm just in love with old, stone Mediterranean-style houses.

Terras do Demo (land of the devil).

Famous for an amazing "Sparkling Wine" :)

Back in the days:

Why is it called Land of the Devil? Because the land there is hard to work?

The name became famous after a writer (Aquilino Ribeiro) from the region said the name. It's a land that in the past brought many difficulties to the people that lived there, mainly because of what you just said :)

It's just because people from there are too ugly. rdr10 being the ugliest of them all!

Spoiler
I think it is actually the best name a place could have. Whenever I heard about Terras do Demo it sounds harsh, but strong, you know?

Never been there, though ;D

My mother was born and lived her teenager years in a really small village called Fundão, that by now must be inhabited by less than 50 people.

This is from another village really close to Fundão, sadly found no photos of the small village.
Me and my sister never liked it much even though we spent loads of time there in our youth, it has a really poor cellphone and internet coverage.
It's the middle of nowhere, but you can't deny the beauty of the wild forests and small streams.
Well at the least till the last summer when the black replaced the green caused by huge wildfires all over the place.

On the other hand, my father was born in a small peaceful city called Tomar, where I live at the moment.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomar

Rich history which includes a templar presence that lead to the building of the Convent of Christ.
Conterrâneo  :clap1:

When all this frenzy started, I decided to temporarily relocate to the village I mentioned in my post. Putting up with media campaign, numbers, constant depressing stories, panic, lockdowns, obligatory facemasks-is not my thing. I had no TV, only the Internet because of the nature of my work. Unfortunately, I had to return to Belgrade, but I will be back in a few days.
