Sky Italia :Vidal will be ready for tomorrow, the only one missing is Barzagli....
Caceres will take his place

they'll have Vidal and us Gaitán
more quality to both sides for 2nd leg... it's gonna be tough but I think we got this

Barzagli is a great defender(to me it's the best centre back in Juventus)...if really, he cant play like the in the Lisboa game, well it's a good thing

yep, it's good news  O0

and this time we should start with our 2 best strikers this season (Rodrigo and Lima)
in Lisbon we started with Cardozo who is not in great shape, he had an injury and didn't play for a few months
so I'm hoping we'll give them even more trouble this time

Off Topic : I noticed that you have a problem in Portugal that we have here too...

In many games the stadiums are half empty? why?

In Italy because a lot of people prefer to watch football on tv...same reason?

Not really.
That tv problem only happens with Benfica, Porto and Sporting.

The issue with every other club is way more simple: they don't have supporters.

We are a small country.
Benfica and Sporting became powerhouses in the beggining of the 20th century, with nothing else going on, and with the help of cycling teams and european sucesses they become national clubs. Benfica, being more sucessful and more relatable to the masses, became much more impressive than Sporting. The last UEFA study said that 47% of the portuguese population are Benfica fans.
FC Porto is growing in the last decades, they already dominate their city and have a lot of fans on the Great Porto area that has 3 500 000 million people, more than 30% of the country.

So as you can see, there's not much room for the local clubs.

It's kind of sad but most small teams in our League have attendaces between 1000 - 3000 people and have absolutely no power whatsoever. Whether it is Olhanense or Nacional or Arouca, no one cares about our teams. They kind of only exist to play against the big clubs.

That's the worst thing about our league.

TV is a problem for the small clubs too. See games from 80's and even 90's, Beira-Mar, Farense and so on have very good attendances in their stadiums.

On second thought, I doubt you've ever seen highlights from a portuguese game without the big club and the two medium sized ones.

If you were talking about Benfica attendances, it's complicated. Many people do prefer to watch in on tv and also there's that economic crisis that you may have heard of.

I don't think our attendances are bad, I think our stadium is too big for the modern era, when everyone has to pay to enter the stadium and there's no shortcuts or free entry after 10 minutes.

Portugal is not the kind of country where 50k or 60k people are willing to give 300 or 400 euros per year for season tickets, even if football is one of the most important thing in their lifes. It's too expensive when they can just watch on TV and only go to stadium in the real important matches.

But with that said, our average attendace this year is around 45k. That would sell out the Juventus Arena for every game, for example. In our stadium though, it looks half empty.

They weren't as good as our memory tells us they were.
But like I said, I doubt most people on those stadiums at the time payed for their tickets like they have to do now.

Plus, there's that problem with the capacity of the stadiums. Everything is too big because of Euro 2004.

My friend, unlike Italy, where there is a strong "support your local club" mentality, here I'd say 99% of portuguese people who care about football support Benfica, Porto or Sporting. They may have a little simpathy for their local clubs...but when those clubs play against one of the big three, they support the bigger club. There is one exception though...Vitória Guimaraes. This club is probably, the only one with a strong local support, that when big clubs go there to play, they don't feel like playing home games. Over the last decada we've seen something similar with Braga, but for me that's just bullshit...most of them are also Porto supporters.

It's not only your country....
Also in Italy big clubs have more fans than little one....
Especially in cities that havent a club in Serie A, all the people support big clubs

"The Benfica in Portugal is like juventus in Italy.
Or are you a fan of the team or the team you're up against.
If it is true that Benfica will have many fans in Italy, it is also true that Juventus will have many fans in Portugal".

Who do you agree with the coach of Juventus?

A curiosity?
When you hear talk in Italian, understand (more or less) what is being said?
As for me, when I hear talk in Portuguese only understand 25/30% of what is being said.
While, when I listen to Spanish, I understand the 60/65% of what is being said.
It happens to you too?

I think it dependes on a number of tendencies.

The accent, and the speed we talk. Portuguese like italians, speak fast, and have many regional accents. Its easier to undestand spanish, i think, because they talk more slowly sometimes, and because they are lazy, they have a very open sound and dont give a real use to the tongue. Thats why they have much dificulty do speak english, they are not trained to do so.

As for my self, i undestand the majority of italian. As for i undestand some romanian, like in 8 words i can undestand 3 ou 4.

The basis is latin, and trying do perceive de roth of the word, you can get there.

Nedless do say, its easier to read than do ear.
