I don't think I've ever seen Portugal beat Greece in a football match. I remember a 1-1 draw in a friendly before Euro 2004 and a loss in a friendly back in... 2007? As for official matches, I remember a 2-1 loss in the opening game of Euro 2004 and, of course, the Euro 2004 final.
Silly game to play really, both sides dont need injuries and both side tackle hard.. I don't care who wins, just dont want injuries.

Portuguese sides have always struggled against very defensive sides(italians, greeks ,etc). On the other hand, they usually fare well agaisnt english, dutch and french(well, not NT) sides.

In 2004 i didn´t think Greece was defensive. I saw them putting 5 guys in France area on a counter attack and scored a goal!
That team in 2004 had some great players, Tsiartas, a young karagounis, Sietaridis at his peak, Stelios, Kapsis, a good Zagorakis etc - The team actually had some skill and some speed.
We now play a karagounis - 37 years old. Looks tired after 15 minutes.
Katsouranis - 34 years old. Can't pass or run. Can only foul.
Gekas - 34 years old - no spring chicken but can still score at least.
Tziolis 29 years old and particularly crap// Can't do anything.
Maniatis is a leftback who now plays midfield and just runs around..
Most of these are low grade players.

Portugal won´t win the world cup, either the top national teams will win besides Germany. In my eyes the favorites are Germany, Ivory Coast and Belgium
Holebas is a good player actually. he gets a lot of shit, I think more to do with racism than his skills (he has a Greek father and a Uruguayan mother). I always thought he was a solid left back who is often exposed with two opposing players running at him while playing for the Greek NT because we abandon the wings at international level and Samaras just walks around.
He started out as a striker in Germany, but then converted to a left back.
As for Greece - silly - pointless team. I can't stand watching them.
As for Portugal - I believe, if you can get some momentum, you may be able to do some damage.

But it's easy to know how it works, we just have to imagine how much money FIFA would lose if Brasil would be eliminated from the group stage. just compare how much Brazilian fans spend in comparison with Croatian fans.
For me it was the penalty, the invalid goal of Croatian, the 3 goal with a foul against Rakitic (pretty sure it was him) ... 3 important details all in favor of Brasil !
Now imagine if it would be the other way around ! Would the referee have whistle a penalty like that against Brasil, invalid a goal for Brasil and let the game continue after an obvious foul (to get to the ball he took him down no doubt about that clear foul) ???

Mažić is an exellent referee. One derby he damaged Red Star, but I cannot say he is a bad referee. He is great and I think he will be in top 5 referees in the future.

Tough to predict, Faliro. Uruguay isn't out of the game yet and they obviously do have a great team that didn't get together in the game with Costa Rica, but if they come back to reality again, they are one of the potential winners of the tournament, the game just didn't worked well at all for them. Suaréz and Cavani on a good day, will destroy any team in the world.
As for England, I must say I am absolutely surprised by its sheer quality of the front and middle field lines. Sturridge, Rooney, Welbeck and Sterling are a crushing frontline and the middle field with young talents such as Wilshere, Jordan Henderson, Ross Barkley and the "more experienced" Gerrard and Lallana, could cause problems to any nation. I think this might be the most exciting England of the past years, they just need to get their defense together with a solid line.
Will be a great game to watch, no doubt about it.

So Faliro, what do you think about our great team, that played yesterday? Didn't I tell you Paulo Bento is a fucking punk ass coward and loser? Our team is worthless and the coach is the perfect example of a pigheaded incompetent.
I honestly believe we would have made a much better exhibition if some cancers on our team weren't selected for the starting eleven, or even for the World Cup. There is absolutely no reason for Danny, Tiago, Manuel Fernandes and José Fonte not being part of the squad. I mean, there is, and it is solely because this National Team is commanded by a whiny bitch who must always put his sugar boys, disregarding their actual form.
I am portuguese and I did not enjoy getting pounded yesterday, but in a way I belive it was good for us to go through that shitstorm, maybe we can witness some sort of revolution on Portugal's team. If not on the next game, then may it happen as soon as our appearance on the World Cup ends.

I celebrated Colombia's 3rd goal against Greece as we were so pathetic I wanted as big a humiliation as possible to teach Santos and Katsouranis how out of touch they are - and all the journalists who lick their balls. Made no difference, the next day all the journalists defended Santos and Katsouranis and even tried to pin the blame on Holebas!
As for Portugal, you called it. I watched the game. Germany are extremely strong and also extremely streetwise. You have to fight fire with fire. I believe your coach selected a weak team and also mentally did not prepare them enough. They reminded me of Greece - as in - there for the experience - rather than to win anything. Portugal did not look hungry.. Germany are fanatically hungry for success. You need to match that ambition to stand a chance.

You can see on the pitch, Katsouranis/Tziolis (both (PAOK) disliking to pass to Maniatis, Torosidis and fetfatzidis (OLY) etc. You can see Tzavellas attacking Maniatis, Salpi in there too as another PAOKtzi... It is back to how it was before Euro 2004.. but then it was AEK vs Olympiakos..

About the game, definitely a true shambolic set of football playe... sorry, I can't even finish that sentence without having a really good laugh. A total disgrace of a team, here's a quick analysis of the game:
Starting 11:
-Beto: Did what he could. He's not the best keeper around but he didn't jeopardize the team.
-A. Almeida: Started okay, got injured, finished early.
-B. Alves: Disastrous exhibition. I believe he is still lying on the ground ever since the 2nd goal from the yanks? Looks terribly unfit.
-R. Costa: Probably the best player today and he's pretty average, so I guess that says a lot about the game.
-J. Pereira: Weak, weak, weak. Don't like him at all, no pace, no speed, no strength, no technique, no crossing, no nothing. A hollow spectrum haunting the pitch.
-R Meireles: Good fucking heavens, why this guys keeps appearing on the team from the beginning or even in the bench is something that baffles me and goes way beyond my utter comprehension.
-M. Veloso: Very very poor, absolutely incapable of making a difference on a tattered team.
-J. Moutinho: Another deception, had possibly one of the worst matches of the season. He's one of our key players and couldn't step up to the task of creating chances for the rest of the team.
-Nani: He scored a goal, boo-fucking-hoo. Like I said, currently has bricks instead of feet. Can't receive or pass a ball in any way. Looks like a Glenn Johnson, without the attacking abilities or an O'Shea without the... well, nevermind.
-Ronaldo: In absolutely dreadful shape, can't shoot for shit, running ball or in free-kicks. Sprints a bit and can still pass every once in a while but his condition is on 30% tops.
-Postiga: Got injured before even touching the ball.
Subs:
-W. Carvalho: Together with R. Costa, one of the best on the pitch, only lost one ball, did countless successful passes and recoveries. A breath of fresh air.
-Éder: Apocaliptic performance could have been the understatement of the millenium. Dribbled himself most of the time and could go past a single defender. Terrifying performance in the worst way possible.
-Varela: In my opinion he doesn't seem to be special in any way but always manages to score somehow. Good for him, I guess.
So this is it, the National team of the SWAG, of the olive oil, of the selfies with the dumbass scarecrow of the President, of the McDonalds and Continente ads and whatnot, of the fancy haircuts and trendy tattoos, of the mobster agents and ultimately the faint-hearted, silly, coward, sissy, dumb coach. But who cares, as long as C. Ronaldo keeps on fighting against dandruff, itchiness and oiliness, so don't forget to buy your Head & Shoulders next time you hit the grocery store.

First I would like to say I dislike the politics of the US, but Americans individually i don't mind. Football wise they are actually better than many people think. They play with huge emotion and determination. You can see this game meant everything to them, where as, in contrast, Ronaldo seemed to be doing an impression of someone who cares. If I was coach, I would have made him shave his head and eyebrows so he had no distractions during the game and the tournament. In fact I would have got a member of staff to give him a full body wax so there is nothing left to style - if he is caught penciling in some new eyebrows.. one game ban. A player of his quality needs to be 100% focused on portugal - like he was in Euro 2004.
However, Meireles was just a passenger whole game... :bah2:
Portugal looked weak in the middle, was really surprised how easily you gave up the centre to the USA. I thought Bruno Alves looks finished also. Nothing left. Attacking wise, it seems Portugal have run out of ideas. As for Nani, I never bought the hype with this player. Could have been so so much more..Big mistake going to Man U..
Again, this is not the Portugal I am used to seeing. It seems fitness, passion and talent are lacking. Poor coach also who can't seem to motivate.

He played for us several years, first on the junior team and then reserve team (kind of B team wich played a regional league), I think he was the captain. But he was our fan even before.
Then he moved to other teams (Estoril, Maritimo) and finished his Engineer degree.
