Europa League: Benfica - Juventus

H

Faliro, our two centre backs had a great game. Actually, they're having one of their best seasons, I think. Can't really see what did you see resembling "fragile" in their performances.

Cardozo is not at his best shape. And this was definitely not the game for him to shine.

Elvis the Pelvis

Today's game proves that if Benfica had all the players fisically at 100%, we could've made a way better result. We have Gaitán, Salvio, Fejsa and Silvio injured, when they had only Vidal out. We better hope Gaitán and Fejsa recover for the second leg, in order for a better chance to go to the final.

It's going to be very hard, Juventus is strong, but we have our chances.

Next game we will have more options, I hope, but the options and the tactics are two different things, Today, tactically we were very sound (good). Talvez goal had good defending that 99% of the time would of denied it.

   Congratulations on the ref, Platini!
The referee was the star of the game and clearly Juve's key player. Just as I expected.

The ref didn't signal a clear penalty in our favour in the second half. That was clearly a foul by Cáceres.

He was also a bit permissive here and there, with some rough play by Juve going unpunished. His linesmen didn't have the best of games. Nevertheless, and looking at the whole game, I don't think they were clearly premeditated errors. It was an average refereeing.

Of course he did.

There's one thing that Cáceres didn't do, though: play the ball. He did play Enzo Pérez's body.

the away goal keeps juventus in the game. if it would be 2-0 it would be totally different. I don't see Juventus scoring 3-0 in turim, but 2-1 is too dangerous.

anyway congrats for the great match, you played really good. there aren't a lot of teams doing what juventus did in Estádio da Luz. Pogba played really good, a bit too agressive, but that's how you win games. Thank god Pirlo didn't score :)
If we want to go to the finals we have to do better than yesterday, if we play like today we will lose, because you are in great shape. I just hope that the injured players will be recovered for the 2nd leg, and that Juve loses points in Serie A to create nervousness :p but yea against Sassuolo I'm sure you will win

Chiellini or Caceres and Bonucci were the worst in Juve, Cardozo and Andre Gomes or maybe Maxi just because of the goal the worst for us

  • Postive thing for Juve you just need 1-0 to go to the final and that's easy to do.
  • Positive thing for Benfica it's the first time Juve needs to play attack to revert the "round", and Juve is not used to it, so we have a chance to play counter and surprise

ps: I bet that the game will be decided in the last 10min. both times will have to sweat blood to pass

Review the play again.

Cáceres goes out of his way and moves his hip to block Pérez. Clear foul.
