Juventino, what do you think about the movie "Respiro"? I've seen that movie a couple of times, and it strikes me all the time. The landscapes are breathtaking, not to mention Valeria Golino, a trully beautiful woman.

Probably my favorite movie. Italian.

1900.

I HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE.
But, usually, the emerging Italian filmmakers when they have to "tell" the Sicily, the Calabria or Puglia (my region) exacerbate a culture (or subculture) too rooted in the past.
People change and also changes the way we live. We are children of our time and not grandchildren of yesteryear.
I must, however, admit that films like "Respiro", keeps the viewer glued to the screen.
But is not the reality of everyday life.

yes it is a good movie.

I personally prefer "ROMANZO CRIMINALE"

There is talk of a criminal gang rather rooted in Rome 70/80.
Colluded with the Mafia and the Italian secret services.
In the film will reveal that several massacres (such as Bologna train station - 1980 -) or the political kidnapping  of Aldo Moro (1978) have a weak boundary line between the state, mafia, against state (BRIGADE ROSSE) and common crime.

If we turn then to talk about the film "Funny", have you ever heard of the Italian couple Bud Spencer and Terence Hill?

Ok, Benigni is a big one.
But, just the movie "la vita è bella" tells the story of Jewish tragedy and their deportation to concentration camps and even told, sometimes with veins comic ... the film makes you cry and reflect.

I was talking about funny movies (where there is no reference to the bloody past, though (perhaps) interpreted in some particular years

Philosophy in general. Human thinking. Creation, existence, whatever.

In Italy, I've only been in Milano like 4 years ago. I must confess that it was a little bit disgusting...
