Who are Ya!? – Hany Mukthar

The German starlet is currently playing for Portuguese side Benfica, after moving from Hertha Berlin in January 2015. Mukthar played for his local side Hertha Berlin at both youth and senior level. He started playing for Hertha Berlin II in 2012, as well as featuring for the senior side in 2013 for the first time becoming the second youngest ever debutant at the club, coming on as a substitute in the last minutes against Dynamo Dresden.

The midfielder made 21 appearances for the second side, scoring seven goals in the process over a three year period. During the same time, Mukthar started seventeen times for the senior team, also being part of the side, who won Bundesliga II in 2013. At the age of 19, Mukthar moved to Premeira Liga side Benfica for a reported 500,000 euros, and there is a potential resale profit for the German side.

His former manager Jos Luhukay talked to ESPN about the midfielder's lack of first team appearances and move to Benfica, "It's difficult to play young players like Hany when the structure is missing. It's not only about him but also about the overall situation."

Since joining Benfica, Mukthar has played once for the senior side against Maritimo in a 4-1 victory on May 23rd. Internationally, Mukthar has appeared for every German youth team including his current spell in the German under-20 team during the Under-20 World Cup in June, where he scored a hat-trick against Fiji.

The 20 year old is a player who lacks of a lot of first team practice to make a judgement whether he will have a big future in the sport, but against his youth peers, he shows a lot of promise. He is a player with a lot of energy, and likes to get into offensive areas whilst cutting in from the left flank. With more games under his belt, Mukthar can reach high levels, but needs to start playing more regurarly to stand any chance of fulfilling his potential.
