Hi there,

First of all i want to congratulate the newspaper for the great job you guys do in bringing all the latest news to all of us. Also for bringing a lot of criminals to face justice for crimes in which they would, otherwise, go unpunished for.

Now, corruption in modern football.

There's a very interesting and important story coming out of Portugal today, one which involves the President (and Directors) of a major footbal team of the same country. The President of FC Porto Mr.Pinto de Costa.

Last night someone has posted on youtube phone calls the Porto president had with various people like, major FC Porto directors, referees, referees bosses etc, in which he's arranging referees of his choosing for Porto games and games involving his direct oponnents in the Portuguese League Title fight.

In the same phone calls you listen to Mr.Pinto da Costa associates arranging for prostitutes to go and sleep with referees as form of payment for "services" made to the club.

There's also a story/phone call about the ex. Porto player Deco, now at Chelsea. A story that involves blackmail, manipulation of the Portuguese press, amongst others crimes.
Deco was in danger of being suspended for a long time after throwing his football boot at the referee. Mr.Pinto da Costa, that has contacts in various portuguese newspapers mainly in "O Jogo", fabricated a story (to came out in the newspaper) that would put pressure on the judging board and get Deco out of suspension.
The story was: If Deco is suspended, he will not play for Portugal in the Euro 2004.
You'll be able to hear Deco in the phone call and agreeing to it all.

It's a moral decay.

Somehow they managed to exclude the very same phone calls from the court case that FC Porto president faced not long ago. Obviously that led to him being absolved.

If the same thing had happened in England it would be a totally diferent story because here justice would be done but Portugal is a weak country when it comes to putting major criminals in jail, Mr.Pinto da Costa went inpune for his crimes. Crimes which he's still commiting.

In 2008 Boavista FC (also involved in corruption and in this case, same of the phone calls involves the Boavista President at the time, Mr.Loureiro) got sent down to the lower divisions after being found guilty of corruption but Porto only lost 6 points.
Them 6 points didn't affect in any way, shape or form their league title aspirations because by then FC Porto had already won the title by around 20 points.

Mourinho is also involved in a couple of situations.

It's absolutely escandalous.

This story is all over the Portuguese notional press today if you want to have a look.

I'm sure you have got someone in your paper that understands portuguese but in case you have got no one, i gladly offer my translation servises for free. I'm fluent in portuguese.

With Porto playing Arsenal for the Champions League and with Deco playing for an English team i think it's of public interest for the Newspaper to make a story on the matter in question.

Eu sempre ouvi dizer que até a data de nascimento foi inventada por isso não me surpreende nada. Amigos do meu pai lá de cima e um deles que até jogou no Boavista sempre disseram que este antecedeu o Porto. Esta alteração é só mais uma "bufice" para juntar a tantas outras.
