Dear Benfiquistas, I have to say, you really pulled one over on us by selling us João Mário. Since he joined, our game has slowed down. What's more, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, just like Roger Schmidt, keeps putting him in the lineup. Beşiktaş fans are getting quite frustrated with this.

Beautiful.

In terms of location, it is one of the most beautiful and expensive spots in the world. When Beşiktaş Club sought official permission to renovate and rebuild their stadium, the Erdoğan government (known for their love of profit) proposed the following: "We will build you a new 70,000-seat stadium in another place in the city, and in return, you give us this land." Naturally, the Beşiktaş community rejected this offer. We are not like Galatasaray. They gave up their historic stadium and accepted a similar deal. However, the Beşiktaş community declined this offer. We built it with our own money. It could have been with a bigger capacity, but they did not allow it. By the way, the district where the Beşiktaş stadium is located is also called Beşiktaş—one of the most beautiful and popular neighborhoods in Istanbul.

Last Monday, an important derby match took place in the Turkish football league between Gala and Beşiktaş. During the derby at Galatasaray's stadium, a refereeing scandal occurred that will be remembered in Turkish football history. According to retired referees, the official failed to issue eight yellow cards to Galatasaray. By the 30th minute, Galatasaray should have received two red cards. This referee had previously officiated a Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe derby last season, unjustly giving Fenerbahçe a red card and disallowing one of their goals for a questionable foul. After the recent derby, public backlash was strong, and yesterday the Turkish Football Federation announced that the referee's license had been revoked.

It was also revealed that the referee is a devoted Galatasaray fan and even attended some Galatasaray matches in disguise.

Some believe that the Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe communities are being punished for their opposition to the Erdoğan regime. Beşiktaş's well-known fan group, ÇARŞI, is famous for its stance against the regime, and some of its members are still facing trial for participating in the Gezi Park protests against Erdoğan in 2013.
