Actually ... Juventus gave me my first international orgasm.

Who can forget that late afternoon match in May 1984?

Referring to this one, I presume...

And then the defeated team made a replica of the trophy ;D

So did the 1965 european cup runners-up.
Incorrect. The president offered one... Totally different.
And that one never made the trophy room.

There is rivalry (football) between Portugal and Spain?

If yes, how would you see an all-Spanish final of the champions league in your stadium?

Fans of Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid as they would be greeted in Lisbon?
Obviously there is. They're our biggest rival in international football. As for spanish clubs, nah. We wouldn't really care if a spanish club like Atlético de Madrid or Real Madrid won the Champions League. And if a spanish club faces Sporting or Porto I want the Spanish club to beat them. We all loved it when Sevilla crushed Porto recently.
ok, but, for example, I would take it well if two English teams will play the Champions League final in Turin in a hypothetical.
It's irrelevant. Doesn't matter to us if they're spaniards, english, italian or german. As long as they bring cash and be have we won't mind them.  :smokin:

:clap1: :2funny:
I understand the concept

We have a long friendship's with Real Madrid. It began in 1913.
So, almost all Benfica fans who who knows well and respect history also like Real Madrid.

And once, Ramon Mendonza, former Real Madrid President said: "at Real Madrid we all are Benfiquistas".

I guess this answers your question.

I was even hoping Real Madrid would get their 33 league title this year, just like us :(
oh well, at least it seems it won't be Barça winning it lol

Some historical data:

- The first victory ever of our national team was over Italy, back in 1925.
- Benfica played four times against Juventus in European clubs competitions, won 3 and lost 1, scored 5 goals and conceded 4.

We don't have any rivalry outside of the country. Depends a lot of the person preference, here in this forum you find people with all the kind of preferences about the international teams.
About italian football it's true that in the last decade is less popular. I think the reason is always the money, in 90's and begining of 2000s italian clubs were very reach and had the some of the better players in the world in them league. Also the calciopoli and some other scandals about bets gave a dirty image about italian football and less interest.
And have another reasons, I think other leagues know better how to sell them football (better environment in the stadiuns, more emotion games, etc)
If you pay attention in that section of this forum ( http://serbenfiquista.com/forum/futebol-e-outros-desportos/ ) you will see the difference of the participation of the users between italian league and the others. It's the 3rd more commented, but I see in last years less interest in that topic and another leagues like bundesliga and also ligue 1 with more participation

was reading the last few pages of your forum
you can also talk portuguese in this section if you like mentalist  ;D

and yeah, some in the general section were starting to think you were just a sporting or porto fan messing around.... we've some of those once in a while
but I don't blame them, their forums are really boring... while we get a 100+ pages of discussion here per match, there they get like 10 or 15 at most. the difference on how many fans we have is quite big. Benfica have the most

Welcome, Juventino.

Firstly, and as i've said on the other thread, the first player (outside Benfica of course) that i've really admired, was the one and only Roberto Baggio. Great great player!  :bow2:

Secondly, and regarding our next tie, i think it's hard to designate any favorites. Juve has good players as always, but i don't think this present team it's above Benfica. Sure, we dont' have Pirlo or Buffon, but generally speaking, both teams are pretty much at the same level.

I think the first leg will be crucial. Benfica is very strong at home, not only in domestic competions, but also in Europe. If we play our normal game, it'll be very hard for your team to stop us. Additionally, we have one of the better crowds in the world. You'll see that, i'm sure.

I'd hope we would meet in the final, since both our clubs are historic european teams. But since that isn't the case, i hope we have a great semi final, with the better team going through. Hopefully, Benfica.  :)
Thanks for the welcome, my friend.
Roberto Baggio was a major player not only in juventus, but also AC Milan, Inter Milan, Bologna, Fiorentina ...
In short, he shot several teams.
I prefer to identify as an icon Alessandro Del Piero of Juventus.
Of Portuguese players in juve there have been few, but I remember with joy Gill Rui Soares Barros (a tightrope walker high only each meter and a fly  :2funny:).
How can we forget ... Paul Sosa immense footballer. About Thiago does not have good memories, while Andrade was unfortunate.
As for our semi-final, I think that those who pass the turn, he also won the cup.

A curiosity: What do you think (you Portuguese) Cristiano Ronaldo?
In Italy it is considered a fool, rich and spoiled, but full of talent.

Yeah, i remember that. Baggio exploded in Fiorentina, and after the World Cup in 1990, went to Juventus. For that reason, Fiorentina fans hate Juventus, ain't that right? He was one of my favorite players in the early 90's. Del Piero was a great player also, but a step bellow Baggio. In my opinion, of couse.

I remember all those portuguese players that you've mentioned. Paulo Sousa was a great player, he played in Benfica in the youth categories, and then in the senior team for a couple of seasons. In 1993, he went to Sporting, and one year later to Italy. As i've said, he was a great player, but he is not welcomed at all in our club, for what he did in the summer of 93.

The other three you've mentioned, were good players. I like Tiago and even Andrade, Rui Barros is a Porto legend, so i don't care about him.

Regarding our semi final tie, i think it's 50/50. Anything can happen. And i agree with you, the team that goes through, will win the cup.

As for Cristiano Ronaldo, i don't really care that much about him. He is a great player, one of the best in the world, but that's it. When he plays in the national side, i cheer for him to do well, but in Real Madrid i don't care. If he played in Benfica, then it would be a totally different ball game.
