PS: Já vi os últimos minutos duas ou três vezes. Foi um final fantástico.

Portugal clinch dramatic Euro Sevens title

Portugal's men struck gold in Romania's capital Bucharest at the weekend, beating Spain in a dramatic finale to edge England for the overall FIRA European Sevens Grand Prix Series.

In doing so, Portugal retained the European title they won last year.

Leading the standings entering the final weekend, favourites England lost to both Russia and Spain in pool play to miss out on the Cup semi finals and open the door for the Portuguese.

Portugal, meanwhile, suffered only one defeat in their pool against Romania and went on to beat Barcelona champions Russia 19-7, while Spain overcame France 19-12 in the other Cup semi final.

As a result of England's losses, Portugal started the final knowing that victory would also give them the overall title.

At the end of a tight match, Gonçalo Foro scored in the last minute to beat neighbours Spain 14-10 and clinch a dramatic victory.

England finished with a 29-7 win against Georgia to take the Plate, but ended in second place overall one point behind the Portuguese, despite winning the first two tournaments.
