Ricardo Rocha has rejoined Pompey on a one-month deal, subject to FA clearance

The 34-year-old Portuguese centre-back will wear the number 33 shirt for the Blues and has signed in time to feature against Leyton Orient on Tuesday.

Rocha said: "I'm delighted to be back at Pompey and to have the chance to help out Guy and this great club.

"I can't wait to get out on the pitch again and play in front of the fantastic supporters at Fratton Park."

Caretaker Pompey boss Guy Whittingham said: "Ric is a great character and the fans love him because of the way he has played for us over the past few years.

"I don't think there are too many players around who read the game as well as he does."

Rocha first arrived at Fratton Park in February 2010 and was man-of-the-match in the FA Cup semi-final victory over Tottenham later that year, also playing at Wembley in the narrow final defeat to Chelsea.

He made a total of 76 Pompey appearances before leaving the club when his contract expired at the end of last season.

Rocha began his career at Sporting Braga before moving to Portuguese giants Benfica – where he won the league and cup – in 2002.

While at Benfica he won the first of his six international caps for Portugal.

Rocha moved to Tottenham in January 2007, but made just 18 appearances during an injury-hit two-and-a-half years with the north London club.

Meanwhile, Carl Dickinson has been recalled from his loan spell by parent club Watford.

O defesa-central português assinou um contrato de curta duração com o Portsmouth que termina no final de janeiro mas o treinador, Guy Whittingham, espera segurá-lo, pelo menos, até ao final da presente temporada.

«Estou confiante de que Ricardo Rocha vai ficar. Ele sabe que queremos que fique e que os adeptos também querem o mesmo. Ric é o tipo de jogador que precisamos e ele sabe disso», disse Whittingham em declarações ao The News.
