Faliro, what do you think about Roma-Manolas?

Shitty. Would have preferred him in Spain, Portugal or the Prem.. Greek agents always push Italian or German moves.

Dislike Itialian clubs and Italian football.

don't worry, italians dislike greek football O0

No offense to you Lm27 I hope you stay in our forum like Faliro but italians dislike all football. I do not forget the arrogance of the Italian press when Benfica played against Juventus.

Juventus? Juventus is super arrogant. They think they're Real Madrid, but their last trophy outside Italy was like 20 years ago.

I dont think Milan,Inter,Roma,Napoli are arrogant

But I am not talking of Juventus, I am talking of italian Press! gazzetta dello sport for example.
Said it was a shame Portugal overtake Italy in UEFA ranking.

you shouldnt care about this....They say "Falcao-Juventus possible" so  :2funny: :2funny:

Festivus

Anyway, I thought most of Porto's international marketing went to Colombia.

Defensive football disliking defensive football? Interesting...

It's more like, we can't see their league on tv and that's why people have no interest in greek football....

We cant see tugao too, but Porto for example is very famous because of all the players they sell
Do you guys know that Cristiano Ronaldo and Figo once played for Sporting? Because Sporting fans sure love to brag about to the point of considering their achievements extensions of their club's trophy case.

Obviously, football fans know well Benfica,Porto and Sporting (actually Braga,Pacos de Ferreira and others too).
It's just that it seems that Porto has the best marketing; The Brand Porto is the most publicized...Benfica should work on this
I was mostly taking a shot at Sporting haha. Their fans believe Figo and Ronaldo are huge legends of their club when they really aren't. In fact, Ronaldo has barely played for their senior squad. In terms of trophies, Quaresma is more of a Sporting legend than Ronaldo is.

Hum, publicized in what way? Do you seem more Porto jerseys for sale in Italy than Benfica ones? That kinda reminds me of how AC Milan seems to have better marketing than Juventus even though they're kinda shit now.

Porto's players are usually more famous that other portugal clubs....don't ask me why, I dont know.
Probably because of the big transfers or other things

You actually believe Milan and Napoli are looking at Mitroglou? I don't.

Juventus aren't a powerhouse like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern are. This isn't the Juventus from the mid-late 90s/early 00s.

But I understand Porto also sells good players like James but in my opinion Benfica not far behind...

Festivus

@cipri: Ever since Jesus came to our club we've been selling players for higher prices. Hell, Zenit paid 40 fucking millions for Witsel.

Lm27

I agree...Benfica transfers are underrated.

Probably it's also because Porto sell players to italian clubs(unfortunately Inter).

Inter fans pretty much hate Porto for Quaresma,Alvaro Pereira and Rolando situation

Coentrão, Di Maria, Javi Garcia, Witsel, Matic,Ramires, David Luiz,Garay,Markovic. Who does not know these players?

All passed through our club.

AC Milan has been the most well-known Italian club here in Portugal since I remember. Juventus came behind but still a certain distance. Inter were on the spotlight for a while during Mourinho's tenure at it, but before and after it, I don't think people cared much about Inter. Fiorentina was a bit followed back in the 90s when Rui Costa and Nuno Gomes played for it but nothing huge as a whole.

Going by FB likes, AC Milan has more than most Italian clubs combined. Those European trophies sure have helped them.

As a kid, Serie A was the foreign league I followed the most and took an almost instant liking to AC Milan and I have no idea why.

Faliro

Benfica now seem back in control of Portugal, both domestically and with the biggest transfers coming out of Portugal. Has that news not made it to Italy yet?  :whistle2:

You cannot say that we're back in control before we win 2 or 3 championships in a row.

Walking the Greek league has been a given for the past few years. At least, if and until PAO or PAOK can step up their acts. What I personally think should be a priority to Olympiakos is to build a team good enough to win, say, an Europa League.

But sadly, we seem to make it to the last 16 of the CL... I think our team is good enough for a Europa Semi...
I still remember that disgraceful elimination to Metalist, in 5 minutes or so you lost a qualification.

You know what's funny? James was a good player at Porto, but he never reached an amazing level. I don't think he was exactly brilliant in Monaco.

Suddenly, he's sold to Real Madrid for 80 million just because he scored a few goals in the World Cup. Just for the World Cup...

And this was his best goal at the tournament:

Milan is famous for Van Basten era and international trophies, you cant win against 7 CL.
Juventus got problems outside Italy and Inter is too much discontinuous, some years good, than others mediocre.

The fact that now our league is poor doesn't help for sure
