He was very anxious to score a goal, it was a mistake to put him score the 1st penalty.

Cardozo was the worst choice in that situation.
And Rodrigo also isnt a good choice...too much pressure for a young player

Age has very little to do with this. The main reason why Rodrigo shouldn't have taken that penalty is because he simply doesn't know how to take a penalty kick. I may be wrong, but this season I think he missed all the penalties he took. And of course the penalty shootout is lottery but as someone said before, it is also a question of mental strenght and Benfica tremendously failed in that department last night.

During this season we used to be letal at making our opportunities count, but once again we failed at the big decision's game.

Exactly. The pressure is on whoever takes the penalty. If a goalkeeper doesn't stop a penalty, people will give him a pass, but if the player who takes the penalty misses it(or the keeper stops it), the blame will lie on him. You gotta have nerves of steel to score a PK.

Actually, Cardozo tends to show up in big games. His penalty last night was ridiculous, yes, but he was injured for quite sometime and hasn't recovered his form ever since. You don't assign a player like take to take a PK in a crucial game like this.

Yes I was thinking the same last night, so I can't complain too much  Dudek took 2 steps forward before the ball was struck iirc.

It was very bad from the linesmen though, in both that game and last night. If that doesn't deserve a retake then what does!? I hope FIFA talk to the refs about this before the world cup.
