This topic just HAD to exist.

Faliro, things are turning black for Greece, huh?

To be honest, I think this was Tsipra's plan since the beggining. Force the negotiations to a point where all the european institutions would be the ones to blame, and having elections.

Faliro

Tsipras has no fear in Greece leaving the Euro or the banks being closed, here is a nice little extract on him:

Stavros Theodorakis:

"The most disturbing in our talks with Tsipras was
that during all the conversation he was neglecting the dangers that Greece will have to face.
He even said that it doesn't bother him if the greek banks will have to be closed for a given period of time.
His argument was that a very little part of SYRIZA's voters have bank accounts..."

As for the mood..I think this picture sums it up..

Very little part of Syriza's voters have bank accounts? What?

Faliro

We have a communist party in Greece.. they usually do well at elections. They are called the KKE. Here is their emblem..

The reason I am telling you guys about this, is because the communist party of Greece said last year it would never join a coalition with SYRIZA because they were too far left.. :estrelas:

Don't worry, Soviet Russia will annex Greece, and all will be good.

In ancient times a tribe came down into Greece called the Dorians. They were a strange people who replaced the Mycenean and proto Greeks as the dominant population. Eventually they were mixed into the Greek soup. They brought strange customs with them and were famous for their homosexuality. Anyways - many people including myself believe these people were proto Russians and came from a place around where St Petersburg is located today.

I mention it because Greeks have a massive psychological softness to Russians. After the Greek civil war many Greeks were devastated Greece was not behind the iron curtain.. :crazy2: Those Greeks had children and their children are now in charge.

Tsipras is one of them. It took him 10 years to complete a 3 year degree. His professors never saw him. All he did was attend student sit-ins and protests.

Good morning all,

Despite the fact that this topic sounds like a private conversation, it is in a public forum, so I leave here my opinion if I am allowed to do so.

Yes, things are turning black, but not only for Greece, but for the entire Europe.

Faliro, thanks for your very interesting post about the Dorians. With the recent summits between Tsipras and Putin, I would not be surprised with a russian naval base in Greece... Remember Crimea...

Best regards

Faliro

Well the Russians already have free use of any base they wish in Greece - the Greeks have made it quite clear they would allow Russians to use any base they wish.

The massive naval base at Souda in Crete is basically a NATO naval command, but it has been of no help to anyone in Greece.

Greece has also agreed to the Russian natural gas pipeline being built.

Putin himself has a house in Greece and quite a softness for the place.

On another note the Russian owner of PAOK, Savvidis, (who is a friend of Putin) is constantly inviting Russian enterprises to start up in Greece. There is a definite interest in bringing Russia closer to Greece.

pcssousa

The new USSR will include Greece. No doubt about it!

More seriously, Greeks are in deep shit.

Faliro

If you see Greeks as normal Europeans, I think it seems complicated and desperate.

If you see most Greeks as poker playing anarchists - it becomes a lot clearer as to why Greeks let the situation always get like this.

Fernando Ferreira

I'm convinced they'll stay in euro. The russian card left some important people really scared. And our government should be ready to benefit from that too. :)

Jotenko

An agreement is expected to be reached during this week.

Tsipras tells Greece he has decided on a referendum:

A coward decision.
In my opinion is the attempt to wash is hands from the responsibility.
A government should decide, take positions and responsibilities

Faliro

Greeks voted for Syriza because they didn't want to take responsibility. He has just put it back on the people.
