Supporters planning to attend our upcoming Champions League away fixtures are strongly urged to refrain from making any travel arrangements until more information is available.
The draw for this season's UEFA Champions League group stage takes place at 5pm (UK time) today and many fans will be eagerly awaiting the news of our first three away trips in the competition, as we open our defence of the European crown we claimed in Porto.

However, with many of the vital details surrounding those potential away trips still to be determined, even after our opponents are decided, supporters are advised to wait for further information before booking travel to those games.

Although we will find out which teams we will be facing in the group stage this evening, the precise schedule and dates for all of those fixtures, home and away, will not be known until Saturday at the latest. In addition, rules on international travel between the UK and other countries continue to be subject to change and are constantly under review by respective governments, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

For the same reason, UEFA are also yet to confirm the availability of tickets for away fans at Champions League games. Neutral venues, closed stadiums and the absence of away fans are all still possibilities, as has been the case during the qualifying stages of this season's European competitions and will be again for matches during September's international break. A decision regarding away club ticketing is currently under review and further information from UEFA is expected shortly.

All the relevant information regarding tickets and travel for our Champions League group games will be communicated to supporters on the official Chelsea website, The 5th Stand app and our social media channels as soon as it becomes available.

UEFA blanket ban on away fans in European club competitions being reviewed today with decision due
That should mean UEFA will make an announcement at some point today as to whether West Ham fans will be able to go to Croatia, Austria and Belgium for games against Dinamo Zagreb, Rapid Wien and Genk.

Pressure is increasing on UEFA to allow away supporters to attend fixtures in European club competitions this season by removing its blanket ban.

West Ham's Premier League rivals Manchester United and the likes of Ajax have urged UEFA to reconsider ahead of their Champions League campaigns.

It comes after travelling fans were not able to watch games in the qualifying stages of the Champions League, Europa League and the Europa Conference League.

That did not impact West Ham as David Moyes's men had already qualified for the group stage directly.

The restriction – which was brought in to help limit the spread of Covid-19 – will be reviewed today.

But it does not bode well for West Ham's hopes of having their fans accompany them on their European journey that UEFA has already banned away fans from the international matches in Europe over the next two weeks because of a "spike" in Covid-19 cases (BBC Sport).

UEFA ban on away fans during this international break does not bode well
European nations will play up to three games over the next two weeks, a mix of World Cup qualifiers and friendlies.

And UEFA's European competitions kick off the week after with West Ham travelling to Zagreb in their Group H Europa League opener on Thursday September 16th.

It seems unlikely UEFA would ban national team's away fans from attending games and then allow club fans a week later.

But West Ham fans will just have to wait for the official decision from UEFA – which will likely be first announced on the governing body's official website.
