Manchester United have made a £7million bid for Benfica midfielder Enzo Perez and hope to finalise a deal for the player after the World Cup.

Perez, who has enjoyed a brilliant 18 months with Benfica, is almost certain to depart this summer, with a host of top teams interested.

He has already rejected moves to Valencia and Lazio, and now United have joined the chase – with the expectation that they’ll land their man.

According to A Bola, the Red Devils have made a £7million offer for the 28-year-old and are now waiting for the go-ahead from Benfica to hold talks with the player.

Perez played in front of his potential new boss Louis van Gaal last night as Argentina beat Holland to reach the World Cup final, and any move for the midfielder would not happen until after the tournament.

Chelsea have also been linking with Perez, who is famed for his brilliant passing range and ability to control a match.
