How was Samaris? Still struggling in the 6?

Samaris was ok.

I don't think Samaris was ok.
He is such a great player, no doubt on that, but he is not the 6 that we need right now.
I really hope that he will become an amazing 6 in Benfica because we need one (unfortunately Fejsa still not available) and he was expensive.
But I believe that with work he will reach the level that Benfica need. He seems to be a very intelligent player and a hard worker.

Samaris is still trying to adapt to our style. If all goes as planned, he'll become a tank from January on.

He did that once. Not anymore.
It's painfull to see Benfica playing like this.

The system JJ plays does not seem to be using the players properly. You are playing at home against a nothing team. Samaris is playing miles too deep. He is playing where the CBs should be when Benfica are in possession.

Right now my opinion (and the opinion of many Benfica fans) is that JJ is trying to adapt the players to his system and not the opposite. And this is wrong. There are players, like André Gomes that was sold and now is in Valencia doing amazing goals, that would fit better in a 4x3x3. What a waste!! And maybe a midfield with Samaris, Cristante and Enzo would work better.
But JJ said that 4x3x3 is a tactic of small teams. I just know that we are not playing well and that in champions we are miserable.
And for this game having André Almeida available as a 6 why not play with Samaris as an 8??

Well. Samaris had great moments in the second half.
And we won. 
But we need to be so much better.

There aren't  many teams as strong as the mighty Arouca in Greece, tho.




...Seriously, we are in such a disgraceful form, it's amazing we are leading 4 points ahead of the pigs.
