Arguably the most talented, strongest and best player Greece has, has recovered from his hardcore injuries lasting a long time. Kyriakos Papadopoulos is back and scoring also. Bayer are playing him as a CM. If Ranieri has an IQ over 32, he will start Kyriakos CM next NT game. Samaris may well start being phased out unless he starts to show something.

Joking, seriously, I think Samaris is a good player, however....  he is not good enough to play so deep and so rigid. I think like with many players, in the right conditions, a transfer can turn into a nightmare - like Feisa with us. Samaris was on fire in the world cup and with Olympiakos last season.

For example. Kasami stated he liked to play in a free role behind the striker. So many players say the same around the world. At Fulham they said he was not good enough to play that position. Olympiakos also only plays with one player in the free role behind the striker - Dominguez.

So what did Olympiakos do when Kasami came? We changed our formation. We now play a 4-3-2-1, With Kasami and Dominguez both playing free roles behind the striker.  That is how far we go to make sure we get the best out of our players. Kasami was bought for 5 million.  When a coach is too rigid with formations, problems begin. You have to be experimental, use all the subs every game, try players in different positions.

It seems Samaris was bought like someone buys a dog after their last one died. 'You will be sleeping in Fido's dog house, you will cuddle us on the couch here - like he used to, you will enjoy playing with this chew toy - it was Fido's favorite..' That is how English teams buy players too. They are bought for a specific role and it seems Samaris was to replace Matic..  It seems you bought Samaris with a fixed destiny as a 6? That was the end of the debate on how he can help Benfica. I believe he is better far higher up the pitch.

Either way, sounds like he struggled last game which is surprising to me as that means he has regressed.
