Could do as Xanthi become more desperate. Although Durmaz and Fortounis who just came on are not superstars..  :2funny:

It was an ok performance by Olympiacos.

There were changes in the game of Olympiacos, that you have noticed? The 1st phase of construction is equal?

I liked the left back, but I have to see more, but he seemed very good, with the ball, without it.

I agree, ok performance, nothing special.

The left back is one of the most highly sought after, Arthur Masuaku. There was huge speculation that Juventus were going to try and make him theirs, but Karembeu shut everyone up saying he would only go for €30 million! He is a very good player and he was acquired for nothing from Valenciennes.

The stream was absolute garbage so i could not get much from it. Kasami seems to be playing a littler deeper, Mitroglou seemed less isolated. The construction of the goals seems pretty normal. I think what will annoy VP is how shity Durmaz was and how everyone just shut down the last 20 minutes. Our intensity second half was very poor and Xanthi could have got at least another.

We are now 2 points clear at the top and PAOK are in free fall.  :cool2:

Yeah... the stream sucked lol.

Kasami with Michel played right wing, right?

Alvonitis with the ball seemed very bad, I saw him failing some ridiculous passes. I think it was him.

Very nice work by Olympiacos getting that player. 30M is a lot of money, but with VP work him, he could really worth it, or at least 20/25M. He's french.. I think you said some day that you don't sell higher because of the greek passport or something like that. Can you elaborate on that again?

Usually plays next to or a little behind Dominguez but in a free role. Today he was deeper helping Maniatis however he still managed to wonder forward.

It was him, very shitty player indeed.

Yes he was bought for less than €1 million as Valenciennes needed to sell because of debts.  He is hugely strong. I doubt he worth anywhere near €30 million, it was just Karembeu's way of telling the Italians he is worth a lot of money. If I was to put a price on him I would say around €15 million. If he was coming from Spain or italy, maybe a little more.

About the Greek passport. This goes back to the often insulting, but often true belief Greeks don't travel well. When you buy a Spanish, Portuguese, German, French or even Serb player - I believe you are paying a little premium on top of their natural value for their ethnicity and the work ethic or skill level perceived from that ethnicity. Same with Brazilians, Uruguayans and Argentinians for example.  Greeks are right at the bottom of that pile.  The reason? Greeks are a race of Frappe drinkers. The Greek does not inspire one to open up the wallet. This is actually not always wrong as there are quite a few failed Greek 'stars' abroad. However, when it becomes sad, is when players like Fetfazidis and Ninis end up at mid table Italian teams for nothing transfers because of the Greek passport. If Either of those two were Spanish, they would have probably been sold for around €3-6 million more and there would have been far more hype around them both.  We must remember however that this is changing now with Manolas, Samaris, Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Xolevas. Greeks are now starting to get a little more respect in the market, however as soon as there is hope for Greeks to be at least at the level of a Bulgarian or Romanian player.. there is a usually a high profile and spectacular failed transfer like Mitroglou to Fulham or Samaras to Man City.

The other problem is foreign stars being sold from Greek clubs. Mirallas and Nery Castillo were massive transfers by Greek standards, but usually, even foreign stars will not be sold for as much from a Greek team as they would have been from say a French, Portuguese, Italian or Spanish team.

The final factor is probably the difficulty in doing business with Greeks in general.

Another interesting and bizarre habit of Greek clubs (unrelated) is how they create contracts. Many players in Greece are on a basic rate of pay - exceptionally low wages. However, their whole pay packet is enhanced by 'add ons.' EG: + €3000 for every game played, + €2000 for every assist, + €5000 for every goal. etc etc

I really think that will change. What about your academy, do you have? If yes, elaborate on that please.

Oh, I have to read that article about VP, power.. that you put here last night.

So, next game is day 15 away against Niki Volos, right?

Our academy is the best in the country and one of the best in Europe. It was completely restructured 5 years ago and produces very good players who sadly have to get loaned out because there is no room in the main squad and Greece does not allow 'B' teams. We have 100s of very good youth players who we have to farm out to whoever will take them. We also have many links with foreign nations.

Our official academy page in Portuguese (click on the category U20 for example):

Correct. Thursday.

Niki Volos is a shitty team that almost closed down over the winter due to colossal debts. We will expect to thrash them and go full out attack. I expect them to defend far more than Xanthi however.
