Unfortunately I wasn't able to watch the match (don't even know if there was any stream to watch it) but it's not as surprising as one might think. The Kazakh league isn't that bad for this level and as a plus Kairat are cruising through the season, while Crvena zvezda are just starting the season now.

These shocks are somewhat common in this early rounds.

It's a shame however that you're out (unless you make a shocking comeback in Almaty) so soon. You should at least be in the Europa League group stage regularly.

Kairat is not that bad, the thing is - WE are terrible. True, FC Kairat is perhaps the toughest opponent in 1st stage of qualification. 1st stage.

But we had bad luck, also. In 2nd minute the referee gave a red card to Savo Pavicevic, so we played the whole game with 10 players.

Even though we were man down, it is Red Star who was doing the attacking, and Kairat doing the defending and fast breaks.

Our club and fans are in shock and sorrow in this last few days. Our former player, who played last season and took the title with Red Star, passed away.

Our Goga, aged only 29, just crashed during training with his team in China.

Doctors fought 2 hours for his life, but sadly, the worst happenned.





Goga didn't had the typical footballer mindset. He was smart, truly good person, calm and a true fan of Red Star.

He was in Red Star youth team, but was not kept for the first team...he then played for Jagodina. He would play a game for Jagodina, then immeadiatly after the game he would drive to Belgrade to cheer his Red Star.

In 2013/14 season, Goga was brought to his dream club, reunited. Everybody underestimated him, and wondered why did we brought him...

Then Aleksandar Kovačević got injured before a huge game, a derby with Partizan.

A derby which we couldnt afford to lose or draw. All fans were in desperation.

Then...Goga stepped in...Goga was the man of the match. Every ball was his, he was a fotress. He got us to our precious victory.
Goga may you rest in very peace that you brought in our team with your games and character.

Goga, you will be forever in our hears, never forgotten!
