Our Moroccan da Costa damaged his foot (meniscus) against Xanthi and will be out for two games, including the one against Arsenal.

What are your thoughts on Marco Silva so far? Too early too compare with Vitor Pereira and Leonardo Jardim or do you already see noticeable differences?

Everything depends on his ability to adapt. I think he made a few mistakes so far but it is too early to judge.

I already prefer him compared to Vitor. He seems a lot more cerebral and nuanced than Vitor. Jardim I simply did not like. Far too defensive. I liked Marco's celebration of the first goal against Xanthi. Apparently he had been really working hard telling the players how they would have to unlock the defense of Xanthi (who have a very good coach - Lucescu) - showing videos of previous games etc.

Marco still gets a pass. Our injuries are starting to mount and his favorite midfielder is still on an individual program due to injury. The Arsenal game will be very interesting.

You will see, at the end of the season he´s in Melwood.  :smokin:

Very low chance unless you know something I don't. Also he will have to buy out his own contract which will not be cheap. It is an airtight contract.

I said Melwood but it was a shot in the dark. Portuguese coaches nowadays are highly rated, and after this win at the Emirates Marco will be very rated. The contract isnt a problem.

Take a deep breath to enjoy the win Faliro and later you can give us your take on the match today.

You have the coach whom most of benfiquistas really wanted, including me.
The other portuguese newcomers Vitor Pereira and Paulo Sousa were all with huge chip on their shoulders (for diferente reasons) if they arrived at Benfica. Leonardo Jardim was not possible at this stage.

Marco`s spell at his first club - Estoril, should clear any doubts. It was very impressive the way he played, specially away. Estoril seemed a big team with advanced defense and possession football. Last year at Sporting cant be fairly judged considering the presidente Marco had to endure. At least it gave him the experience in dealing with media circus and very tough situations with the board.

And to think he is only 38. Enjoy Marco Silva for the time being. Enjoy while you can.

PS Your board  Hit the nail on the head while choosing portuguese coaches. Leonardo Jardim, Vitor Pereira and Marco Silva. Really nice set of coaches.

Well it makes a difference. After Michel beat Atletico and Juventus in less than 2 weeks - his stock was high too. I have not in my life seen an Olympiacos coach leave who Olympiacos had not already decided he was gone.
