Take a deep breath to enjoy the win Faliro and later you can give us your take on the match today.

You have the coach whom most of benfiquistas really wanted, including me.
The other portuguese newcomers Vitor Pereira and Paulo Sousa were all with huge chip on their shoulders (for diferente reasons) if they arrived at Benfica. Leonardo Jardim was not possible at this stage.

Marco`s spell at his first club - Estoril, should clear any doubts. It was very impressive the way he played, specially away. Estoril seemed a big team with advanced defense and possession football. Last year at Sporting cant be fairly judged considering the presidente Marco had to endure. At least it gave him the experience in dealing with media circus and very tough situations with the board.

And to think he is only 38. Enjoy Marco Silva for the time being. Enjoy while you can.

PS Your board  Hit the nail on the head while choosing portuguese coaches. Leonardo Jardim, Vitor Pereira and Marco Silva. Really nice set of coaches.

I am confident he will be with us for at least the two years. It is a project.

Today Marco Silva's tactics worked very well. Efficiency. Very little waste. He got about 70 new grey hairs the last 3 weeks working out what to do with the centre midfield after his charge Bouxalakis was injured. He even rang up Michel and Vitor to ask about Kasami. He trusted Kasami and he looked sensational next to Cambiasso.

The game today however was a team effort. Seba (not too rated on here), Pardo and Salino were sensational. I believe Roberto fucked up on the first goal. Should have saved it.  However he played well after that mistake. I don't think Silva is going anywhere for a while, but perhaps you will see a player like Fortounis in Portugal..  :smokin:

I was telling my wife near the end of the game, Cambiasso is the best player on the field. Talent - severe talent dies hard. The guy is 35, playing like 28 year old. Not only that, he is leader - organising the defence and the midfield!  He just adds that bit of quality. I am convinced Maniatis would have sabotaged us if he was playing instead. :bow2: Cambiasso has only been in Greece 2 fucking months.. :crazy2: and he is already playing like he has been here years. True true professional.

That's exactly the time that he's forbidden to train in Portugal. At the end of those 2 years he'll back here (Portugal) and for our Benfica.

Great win today. We wish you all the luck for your Olympiacos man!!

Funny. In football just two years is considered to be long term, i.e. - project. Nothing new but time is really at a diferente pace in football, compared to other activities.

Hey... it`s possible. Jorge Mendes is not Marco silva agent. I dont think he will change at first chance. Just make shure you dont have a looney as a president and enhance empowerment regarding to the transfer market.

Seba cant be rated highly... unless he`s playing in Vietnam. Pardo was an interesting player at Braga. But man...it seems your team had more individual quality just 3-5 years ago. If so, its even a bigger achievement winning tonight.

Roberto fucked up? Who would guess? But the bastard played the game of his life when Benfica visited your team, two years ago. Terrible with Benfica, great against Benfica. Dont want to relive the trauma.  :tickedoff:

PS Dont know Fortounis but I`m all on board with greek players at Benfica. Professional, hard working and made for big atmospheres.

Saveloy

Silva still has so much to prove, people get too carried away after a good result.

Fortounis is a real mind-fuck of a player. I am not sure how to classify him.  :estrelas: :estrelas: He is one of those players that just plays a specific style that has nothing in common with how most other AM's play. I used to despise him and could not work out how he walked into the Euro 2012 starting 11. Anyways, he is one to watch.

Seba's work for the 3rd goal was immense and he worked very hard tonight.

Silva learnt from his mistakes against Bayern like I hoped he would. He dropped the Salino midfield project and put Fortounis as a 10. Set out a solid 11 that had more attacking players than vs Bayern.

Finally Marinakis rewarded the players with €250,000 bonus tonight. He met the players and fans after the game.

Thin men. :rir:

We should snipe Kasami and Fortounis in the future. Fortounis looks exactly what we need for position 8.
