It'll be very, very hard to ever leave anfield. The new stadium is currently delayed and I have my doubts it will be even started in the next few years so maybe we won't have to deal with the pain! However.. we do need something bigger...

Do you guys still miss the old Estadio de Luz? (Although I think the new one is amazing so maybe that helps make up for it..)

I speak for myself (but probably, for most of us), i miss a lot! Altought i totally understand the reasons to built this new one (the other one was already very, very old and with this new one we have a modern and beatiful stadium for the next 50 years), it still hurts me so much to know that the old stadium doesn't exist anymore.

It was our simbol, it was our pride. Imagine the feeling of importance and even monstruosity that we all felt when we were amongst 120.000 fans at the stadium! It was something unbelieveble, the site, the noise...you can never forget something like that!

:bow2:

But anyway, as you said our new stadium it's beatiful, modern, with great conditions and all it needs is to built it's own history.

4ever Red Devil

We'll always miss that monster... in the darkest years of our history, was the only concrete thing that we could be proud of.

Senhor_Beef, can you post the projects and location of the new liverpool stadium?  O0

I've just ordered a Liverpool shirt, no. 9, Torres :) I was going to buy Robbie Keane's but in the end picked the spanish one..

..

Thanks for posting that man, it looks fantastic in the photographs.. I really wish I'd been able to go and see a game there before it was knocked down. The size is incredible, and I bet the atmosphere was brilliant.

Still, as you say.. the new one will have it's history soon.. The way this year is going for you guys, hopefully VERY soon...  :slb2:

No problem!
Everything I write here should have the prefix, "If it ever gets built: ". Our two owners are cabrões so we have muitas dúvidas!

Well, this is the view from the inside. It looks a bit strange because most modern stadiums are symmetrical, but traditionally, most english stadiums are not, including Anfield, so they have tried to preserve this.. They have also tried to keep the Kop.. (i.e. One stand  on its own, with just one tier, like the Kop has always been)

http://beingsven.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/edit-0707-stadium-in1.jpg

Then these are from the outside. Quite a few people think it looks a bit too much like an airport... (some truth there imo..) but I quite like it.

and from the air:

One thing we are happy about is that, unlike the plans for Everton's new stadium (which wont even be within the city of Liverpool), ours is just across the road from the present Anfield.

This map shows the current distance between Anfield (at the bottom) and Goodison Park, Everton's stadium (top). We have permission to build our new one in the park you can see between them.

Now we just need some money to build the damn thing..

Good choice  O0  :clap1:

It was a strange weekend in the english league that we've just had.. Very dissapointed that we didn't beat Fulham but still up there at the top..

I didn´t know that the stadiums were so close!  The new stadium desgin is great, I had seen it before, but I just want to confirm  O0

Liverpool didn´t have problems with the partial "destruction" of the park? In Portugal if it was Benfica or Sporting( :buck2:) that had to construct a stadium in a city park, Lisbon would have a civil war  ;D  O0

Hope so too! and glad you like it. as far as the capacity goes.. we have permission for 60000 but the stadium designs have the option for up to 72000 (mais ou menos) - we just need to prove to the council that we have sufficient transport / car parking for so many extra people. we are thinking of opening up an old railway line that runs between the city centre and the stadium but of course...it all costs!

One of the things I like is how close the stadiums are.. (not because I like Everton to be near to us!!) but it's unusual, and also means that fans of each team don't really live in certain areas..wherever you go in the city, people could support either team, whereas in cities like London, most fans of each time live in the same area. I don't know if it's like this is Lisboa? From what I have found in Portugal, it doesn't seem to matter where you come from..(so I'm ok to support Benfica rather than Farense??) My girlfriend is a portista (sorry guys..) and she is from Abrantes.. I said to her.. "why dont you support S.C. Abrantes?"... she said.. "o que?"

Yes! This caused a lot of problems although not yet civil war... It took a long time to get permission and when we did, Everton fans are mostly very unhappy about it, saying it's unfair  :blah: And that if they had asked for that land the council would have said "no"... but they didn't ask so fuck'em  ;)

No, no... I live in Amadora, a Lisbon suburb, and it has a first league team "Estrela da Amadora" and I am 100% Benfica! I don´t care about Estrela... And I live very close to the Estrela stadium. In Lisbon everyone is "mixed". It is a diferent concept, maybe because Portugal is a small country. And it is great: wherever you go in portugal, you have a Benfica fan  :slb2:

heheh.. I had my suspections... You can´t have a stadium in the "city" park, specially with Everton fans all around you! I imagine the acusations...  :2funny:

Leixoes has just get a draw against Naval!!! If Benfica wins the game monday, we are the first in the league  :D

Honestly, I don´t remember any game against Olympiakos....  :whistle2: :whistle2:  ::bater::

Senhor_Beef

Excellent. I hope you get a win on monday lads!!

I saw the first 15 minutes of the Olympiakos game (that doesnt exist now). I thought the freekick you scored early on was definetly a goal. Could have changed the game a lot.. oh well.. The league is much more important than the uefa cup right?

I am in Madeira next sunday and hope to have time to see Maritimo x Benfica.. would be cool

GloriosoLFC

If results go our way this weekend, maybe we can both go top on Monday  :bandeiraslb2:

What has happend to Leixoes this season so far, i will be honest i know very little about them, but how have so become so strong all of a sudden, have they bought alot of players or just been a massive shock?

They're just a surprise team this year...they have a clever coach and some unknown but promising players, but there's no way they'll fight for the title or something like that. Give more 3 or 4 weeks and you'll have the Big Three in the pole positions and maybe Leixoes in 4º place.

About Olympiakos... :ashamed:. We played awfully, the greeks scored a goal in every opportunity, and unfortunately, i think the UEFA Cup adventure is over.

We'll have to concentrate on the league, where we're doing fine.
