I am the one who feels privileged to be posting here. For me to hate a club takes next to nothing, for me to like a club is very rare. The fans on here have made me support Benfica. Soon hopefully I will be able to post more in portuguese.  O0
You've mentioned before that you don't speak Portuguese very well despite having lived in Brazil and being married to a Brazilian woman. I know Portuguese and Greek are nothing a like, but is our language really that hard? Foreigners seem to find Portuguese a fairly hard language, even the ones who have learnt Spanish or Italian before.

I think Portuguese is a little bit more difficult than spanish but it's not hard to understand when it's written.

Spanish is just the language in the middle  that every latin person understand

What do the Northern Italians think of Greece Lm?

Well, Portuguese is harder to speak and understand. It's more phonetically rich than Spanish is. Spanish is very basic phonetically-wise.

Italian can be tricky. I can understand 70% of what one person says and the next one I can barely understand a word. It depends on the accent and dialect, I guess. I've noticed that people from Rome/Lazio are easier to understand, per example.

My experience with Italian is the same as yours with Portuguese: I find it easier to read than to listen to. Although you guys spell words weirdly lol. Hospital = Ospedale per example.

The current spanish it's similar to the portuguese of the XVI century...

Bari is the worst one. What a weird language they speak there.

there is a stupid video where a retarded man(maybe down syndrome) talks in barese and it's impossible tu understand...
But I'm not sure if it's the worst, the Sardegna's dialect is more difficult

It´s great to see fans of other clubs become a part of the SerBenfiquista family. Obviously everyone one of us here supports Benfica above all, but we all tend to have a soft spot for other European clubs. With that said it´s great to be able to share thoughts, opinions and why not, even victories with fans from other parts of the world that have a soft spot for Benfica as well.

Im sure that everyone feels the same as me, and all are very welcome to our forum. It makes all of this time we spend as a 'family' so much richer and fulfilling.

Hope more will arrive, from different nations and clubs.

Godescalco

My Greek teacher in college actually went to live abroad in Greece in the 70's. His Greek was flawless.

Talking about Greece, like I said before...It's a country famous for his history and islands where a lot of italians go during the summer...the food is good (even if I prefer the italian one)  so...nice place (for vacation).

People see him like a not very rich country, poorer than Italy, also the language doesn't help at all, religion is different and if you add the fact that there aren't many greeks here (I only know one)you can understand that it's not the most popular country.

I can't say more because I've never been in Greece except for 1 day in Olympia (Cruise vacation)

During the second world war, the Italian fascists tried to make Greece look third world so that conquering it and colonizing it would seem less barbaric, I think many Italians still believe that. When I visited valle di comino (san Donato), Naples, etc I never saw poverty like that in Greece. I think it is because Italy has too many people. Greece is only 10 million so there is plenty of land/food to go round. My friend was Italian and his dad said he was born and raised in a 1 room apartment in Rome where 5 other family members lived..the only other people with stories like that are from India.. There was no where in greece that had those kind of stories.. Greek poverty stories are like, 'i am so poor, i had to sell my appartment and i have to live in house my grandmother left me which is 40 miles from athens.., and it only has two bedrooms..'

the only time I have heard Greeks starving to death was when it was occupied by the Nazis.. 100,000s starved to death.

From a common portuguese point of view (I don't share these views at all):

Spanish: arch rival, think they are the best just because they're bigger

French: arrogants

English: snobs

Germans: arrogants who want to rule the world

Italians: Funny/crazy

Eastern european slavs: all the same, really don't know the difference between the countries

Scandinavian: emotionless people but somehow seem to be capable to organize themselves

Balcanic slavs: "jugoslavs", crazy

Romanians: gypsies

Turkish: crazy

Greeks: really no opinion, but kinda crazy as well

Fortunately this is changing.
