Marco talked about the interest in Paulo Oliveira and André Martins...

Paulo Oliveira
"I read the news and it is not true. There is a rumour of four or five million euros, anyone who is aware of the reality of Greek football realizes that it is unthinkable. Does not make any sense !"

André Martins
"André is different because he is a free agent, but it is not true that he has signed. Still, I believe he can be an interesting player"

He stated the cup final was the biitter moment of that season. Even worse than Arsenal home defeat and Anderlecht elimination. And all because that, in his opinios, club's rights weren't defended. One day players were booking vacations because no cup was going to be held, the other, they had to cancel everything. The final was played 1 month after league end and that is something you don't see anywhere else.

And even to get the final played at all was a battle - if the final wasn't played Greece would have been thrown out of UEFA and FIFA.. :crazy2: All this because of this hardcore communist..  AEK, PAO and PAOK backed him all the way because they knew it would damage Olympiacos.

That is why I didn't even bother mentioning the Oliveira rumour on here, seemed fiction.

He also went on a lot about what you said about what it takes to manage Olympiacos.

He said that winning championship and cup isn't enough. You have to play good football, win the derbies and that the fans put a lot of emphasis on doing well on Europe.

Also that the greek player NEEDS to experience foreign football, regarding Mitroglou working harder in Portugal.

He mirrored a lot of what you've been saying here.

This season I expect to see what he is capable of. He has had a year to settle. The technical team is basically asking him who he wants to acquire  and what positions need strengthening. He will have all the fans behind him. No one really blames him for the Cup Final. Will be an interesting season next season.

As for Greek players.. there is sadly not a culture of going abroad.. to them playing in Cyprus is as far from Greece as many of them get..

Stoiximan is an extremely powerful gambling company owned by Gambling Malta Limited. The Greek Government gave them licence to operate in Greece a few years ago.

It is interesting to note that Greek gambling company OPAP - the biggest gambling company in Europe, which was privatised last year - was illegally purchased by Melissanidis who owns AEK. The minute he bought the company, Olympiacos and other teams dropped their OPAP sponsorship as did the Greek Super League - which was also sponsored by OPAP.

Why do you say that OPAP was illegally purchased?
