Olympiacos Piraeus

My favourite Greek coach is a guy called Sakis Tsiolis. He has coached many teams in Greece but never gone abroad. He made some comments today about the game against APOEL that can be found here:

What he said is very interesting but also very true. He stated that when you are chasing a game at home against a defensive Cypriot team - late in the second half.. you don't need two defensive midfielders on the team. One can be sacrificed for a player like Tsori. I tend to agree with him.

Sunday will be war. I think Bento will probably be coaching for his job. AEK are not that strong - but they are highly motivated. Will be a very good game to watch. Starts 18.30 GMT. Benfica TV still showing Super League games?
No, it only has Benfica games at home, and that will also be over in the end of the season

Seems the losing manager - if there is one - will be worried for his job.

He has seemed a little slow, a little off the pace and still adapting. However - the game against APEOL was the best I have seen him thus far - so I guess he is getting more accustomed.

Not even Rosenborg could be champion ad aeternum, so Olympiakos won't be either. If Olympiakos does not win it this season it won't be a big deal. Eventually Olympiakos will stop winning 5 to 7 championships in a row as well. Nothing lasts forever. Although PAO and AEK still seem to have a long way to go.

The last time PAO won the league (2010) - they out-spent Olympiacos and signed players they are still paying off - like Djibril Cissé - who scored 23 league goals for them to help them win the title. They also had a very strong midfield that year with Mattos, Gilberto Silva, Karagounis and Simao etc. They won the title that year by 6 points. However the following year we outspent them massively and brought in Mirallas, Holebas, Fuster, Ibagaza, Rommedahl, Riera etc and we blew them out of the water.. we have not lost a league since.

If Olympiacos' rivals consistently outspend Olympiacos - I can definitely see an end to the 7 titles in a row routine. However, if they keep spending roughly half or sometimes a quarter of what Olympiacos spend.. they will only have 'the league is fixed' excuse to hold on to as usual..and bribing journalists to write about that theory the way Alafouzos has been caught doing this year..

Another thing is that they also spend money, but buy so many shit players. If they had a long term plan you wouldnt be winning the league so easily.

Exactly the case ^^ on the rare occasions they do spend.. they buy players like Wooter..
