Europa League: Benfica - Juventus

Vitor84

Benfica have something in common with Juve. Have a lot of people that support the club, the majority in the country, but who didn't support normally hate us.
For example last year Sporting had the worst season ever in them history, but in the end we saw a lot of sporting fans happy and celebrating because Benfica lose.

I understand you, my friend

after our ascent in Serie A, the juventus had become sympathetic ... but needed just two league titles in a row (almost three) and went back unpleasant  :2funny:

think that the year in which the juve played in Serie B there was a decline of interest in the Series A  :2funny:

Welcome, Juventino.

Firstly, and as i've said on the other thread, the first player (outside Benfica of course) that i've really admired, was the one and only Roberto Baggio. Great great player!  :bow2:

Secondly, and regarding our next tie, i think it's hard to designate any favorites. Juve has good players as always, but i don't think this present team it's above Benfica. Sure, we dont' have Pirlo or Buffon, but generally speaking, both teams are pretty much at the same level.

I think the first leg will be crucial. Benfica is very strong at home, not only in domestic competions, but also in Europe. If we play our normal game, it'll be very hard for your team to stop us. Additionally, we have one of the better crowds in the world. You'll see that, i'm sure.

I'd hope we would meet in the final, since both our clubs are historic european teams. But since that isn't the case, i hope we have a great semi final, with the better team going through. Hopefully, Benfica.  :)

I guess if Benfica were relegate to Orangina league (our Serie B) our league would collapse.
In Basketball we decided to go to second division in protest for the corruption and the league collapsed in one year.
As Latins we live Benfica almost like there's anything left in life and Benfica fans are a large majority in all our national territory except for Oporto, but even there we have many, many, many fans. It's completely insane.

Good thing we face Juventus in the semis. If we met in the final, I think both teams would find way to lose the final. Europe's cursed ones...

Btw, welcome to our forum! It's much better and easier to talk in the English Board instead of the Main Board, it would create sloppy discussions and just plain unnecessary trash talk.

Also, I don't get why some of the Benfica fans are so offended by Pirlo's enterview. It was just a friendly display of confidence but also respect. It was put out of context by portuguese media, as usual.

I respect Juve's history and in general as a club. But I feel sorry for some incidents that took place in italian football (not only in Juve, of course). Anyway there's no real reason to discuss it now, but Benfica has suffered from almost 30 years of corruption in Portuguese football, involving clubs, referees, media, politicians and people working in every organ responsible for portuguese football, working together to achieve one sole purpose, so don't feel bad if some Benfica fans are unpleasant and hostil towards Juventus. They don't hate Juve, they hate the number of trophys that were stolen from us, and european media decieved us into associating Juventus with corruption.

Anyway, if you guys need any information on how to get to the stadium or how to deal with transportation when you get to Lisbon for the first leg, just ask and we'll certainly help you.

If think Pirlo was disrespectful. But, ok... It was good for us.

Silvio is out so Maxi will be a starter playing as right leftback. He and Fejsa commit a lot of faults so I hope we don't concieve Pirlo a free kick close to our goal. He's just superb and that would be a major threat to us, specially if Jesus continues to go with Artur as our Europa League goalkeeper. There's still some naive hopes in me that tell me he's gonna go with Oblak in the remaining european games and in the Portugues Cup semifinal match against Porto.

I would go with something like this for the home game:

                   Oblak

           Luisão     Garay
Maxi                                Siqueira
                        Fejsa
             Enzo
Salvio                                Gaitán
                       Markovic
              Rodrigo

Not sure Jesus is willing to abdicate Lima but we'll see.

JUVENTINO, what would you say it's your weakest point?

No way... We  won't play like that.

Red.Fever

welcome to all Juve fans  :)

that's how we've been playing all along, I seriously doubt our master mind, Jesus, will change just for one game.

What prospects do you have for the world cup in brazil?

think that Portugal can get to the semifinals?

meh, it's gonna be though, I'm not expecting much
my only hope is that CR7 goes crazy and starts soloing everyone.

That's not how we've been playing... I don't think Benfica ever played with Salvio, Markovic and Gaitán at the same time, certainly not with Markovic doing Lima's role. That's why I have to agree wit pcssousa, the lineup I posted is highly unlikely.

oh, I was talking about the tactic
and about the players you even said that Lima must be playing in place of Marko (which is more likely to happen)
that's the only thing really, rest must be close of what Jesus going to do
I personally would play Rodrigo and Lima up front.... between Marko and Salvio would see who's in better shape before the match.... Salvio is starting to pick up

EDIT: forgot about Artur  ;D
also hope Oblak plays

Welcome Juventino,

I have nothing against Juventus. I am not a fan of any club apart from Benfica, even though I love to watch football and know more about the history of clubs like Juventus.

I am not sure about the scandal that you went through so I will not make any comments about it. I just want to wish you the best and I hope you visit our stadium soon.

Just one more thing, I did not appreciate Pirlo comments.

Red.Fever

Pirlo said dat because he thinks he gonna win this shit with his awesome freekicks

well, Pirlo, you haven't seen our secret weapons in action
Gaitán and Cardozo can do et too trololol

maybe not as often, but stiiiiiiiiill, we got them hopes real high bro

Welcome Juventino :)

Yeah. If anyone finds Juventus users trying to engage in nice conversations and learning more about our club, send them here.

There are a lot of idiots on the internet, and our more general boards are no exception.
