Europa League: Benfica - Juventus

Welcome, Juventino.

Firstly, and as i've said on the other thread, the first player (outside Benfica of course) that i've really admired, was the one and only Roberto Baggio. Great great player!  :bow2:

Secondly, and regarding our next tie, i think it's hard to designate any favorites. Juve has good players as always, but i don't think this present team it's above Benfica. Sure, we dont' have Pirlo or Buffon, but generally speaking, both teams are pretty much at the same level.

I think the first leg will be crucial. Benfica is very strong at home, not only in domestic competions, but also in Europe. If we play our normal game, it'll be very hard for your team to stop us. Additionally, we have one of the better crowds in the world. You'll see that, i'm sure.

I'd hope we would meet in the final, since both our clubs are historic european teams. But since that isn't the case, i hope we have a great semi final, with the better team going through. Hopefully, Benfica.  :)
Thanks for the welcome, my friend.
Roberto Baggio was a major player not only in juventus, but also AC Milan, Inter Milan, Bologna, Fiorentina ...
In short, he shot several teams.
I prefer to identify as an icon Alessandro Del Piero of Juventus.
Of Portuguese players in juve there have been few, but I remember with joy Gill Rui Soares Barros (a tightrope walker high only each meter and a fly  :2funny:).
How can we forget ... Paul Sosa immense footballer. About Thiago does not have good memories, while Andrade was unfortunate.
As for our semi-final, I think that those who pass the turn, he also won the cup.

A curiosity: What do you think (you Portuguese) Cristiano Ronaldo?
In Italy it is considered a fool, rich and spoiled, but full of talent.

It depends. I'd say most like him and consider him the best player in the world. But it's not hard to come across people who aren't fond of his attitude. Some consider Messi a better player even.

Use this post to respond to all those who have defined as a team juventus corrupt.

I do not have a chance here to make you think again about what you have written, but if you have patience you read the various articles on the site JU29RO.COM ... otherwise please do not comment anything about corruption because you are not able to know the whole truth.

Saying that juventus steals it is a crime because it supports a thought, not the truth.

There will be more joy, win the Taca de Portugal or win the semi-final against juventus?  :)

You mean between the semis against Porto and Juve? Hard to say. We play against Porto this Wednesday, so that's where our focus should go for now. If we manage to knock em out it will be great since they're our biggest rival. That being said, knocking out Juventus and going to the EL final would be great as well, since Juventus are the favorites to win the trophy and if we beat you guys, we'd become number one favorites.

Cristiano is a Sporting fan since that's where he started his senior career. He's also a fan of Nacional da Madeira as far as I know.

Both are very important to us.
I would say that normally, the game against Juventus and the possibility to play an european final would be more important than reaching the final of the Portuguese Cup.
But...we are playing against Porto in the semi-finals of the Portuguese Cup and this stirs the feelings and changes things.

To me, would be less shameful being eliminated by Juventus in EL than by Porto at our home.

Portugal, germany, usa and ghana.

You consider this easy group?

I just saw you on your way after the elimination round: your opponents will be Belgium or Russia.
They are tough teams.

We'll probably lose to Germany again. USA and Ghana are beatable. We'll finish 2nd in the group most likely.

I think Portugal can knock-out Russia without much trouble, to be honest. As for Belgium, they certainly have a lot of good players, but I have a feeling that they'll underperform in the World Cup due to their lack of experience in such tournaments.

answer to Festivus and special_red:
I see that your domestic cup is highly coveted.
In Italy, the national cup, is considered almost insignificant.
It becomes important only when you arrive at the end, or if you failed the sports season.
For example, juventus has won 9, but since 1995 he does not win the cup.
In fact, Antonio Conte, in the quarter-final against Roma did play a lot of reserves.

Yeah, an Italian once told me that in Italy, it's called "Grandpa Cup" or something like that. Why does it have such reputation, though?

Taça de Portugal is a trophy the big 3 want to win every season, no doubt.

Our priority has been to win the portuguese league.
We've also played with many reserves in the portuguese cup and even in Europe League matches.
But now that we've managed to reach to semi-finals in both and we have almost the League in our pockets, we will try our best to win all.

But as I've said before, what is making these semi-finals in the Portuguese Cup so important is the fact of playing against Porto.
