Depois de andarmos uma época com Everton, Gil dias e Diogo Gonçalves era um gigante upgrade ao que nós temos! (E sabendo que o Rafa vai sair ..)

Há aqui um problema, o Benfica tem que fazer encaixes até 30 de Junho para poder não fechar a época desportiva com um prejuízo altíssimo, obviamente que os principais jogadores a sair são os do plantel principal mas se não for feita uma venda até aí o pagamento da clausula pelo o Celtic vai ser vistos com bons olhos pela SAD

Can't really argue about the Scottish league point but the Scottish champion likely has a guaranteed Champions league place for the next 2/3 years due to the coefficient. Possibly longer due to expansion and/or no Russian teams.

Not sure how close the second place team is to automatic qualification, probably far but they will be in the latter rounds of the champions league qualifiers or guaranteed Europa league.

Super random question but i'm not sure where to put it on this forum (feel free to move or I can try translate into portuguese), I am curious though since Portugal is in a similar situation to Scotland in having big clubs but not in a top 5 league.

In Scotland since at least the early 2000's there's been discussions of Celtic and Rangers joining the English league...or a British league forming. The smaller English clubs are generally against it as it cuts into their slice of the pie so it has never happened. On most things sporting apart from football and rugby we are usually in a British league but because us and the English invented the modern game have always had separate leagues and national teams. Cardiff and Swansea despite being Welsh were grandfathered into the English set up as there was no Welsh league.

Reaction is generally mixed to a British league. Many think Celtic would struggle for the first year or 2 but the more English tv money they get, they would eventually be one of the top teams, expand the stadium and can use the Irish/Scots link to appeal to the wider American market and EPL hype machine to their advantage. I do think Glasgow is a far more passionate football market than Liverpool or Manchester, we just don't have the TV money to compete at their level on the field...or dodgy oil money which i'm not sure I want.

Others are against it citing we are a Scottish team and instead should try to improve the rest of the Scottish league which until the 1980's was pretty decent. Politically, Scotland is trending towards independence from the UK. Very few Scots view themselves as British (barring Rangers fans) but some are still not convinced on the economic arguments, hence why it's at the 50% mark but with Brexit and other factors I think it will happen in my lifetime (same with a united Ireland).

Has there ever been talk of the big 3 Portuguese Teams joining La Liga? Has an Iberian league ever been proposed to compete with England and improve the Big 3's financial position? Is this crazy talk? What is the general attitude between the Spanish and Portuguese? Obviously you are very independent countries, with distinct languages etc...but do you like each other on the whole?

What about proposals such as Atlantic league etc? Terrible ideas or something to consider?

A few years ago there was some discussion if Benfica should join La Liga, but was just that. The idea never took off. This was just mainly because Benfica was not happy with the treatment that the Portuguese Federation and League Management was delivering to the club.

Me, personally, think that would've been great but I know that it would be very very difficult to snug a troffy in there.
