Hmm, I'll try to watch..

In this article, you can see how was his Porto. The problem in creation was approached. You'll understand it better with the videos instead of my explanation. I don't know if you'll be able to translate. Anything, just ask.

VP's sides didn't really play exciting football, though. Expect good defensive consistency and some clean sheets, but not flashy football. Will Olympiakos hardcore fans settle for that?

No, they will boo. The Gavri always boo defensive football against 99% of the Greek teams.. unless the team is all out attack in the league, the fans turn on the manager and players.

Zardim built a solid a team, but it did not save him.
Faliro, VP wants offensive football, he said in the presentation. He's not like Jardim. You seeing Guardiola's teams? Always in the field of the adversary? It's what you'll see. Possession, strong reaction to the loss, dynamic, now, you have to have creative players. And Porto lacked of that. There was Lucho and James only. And James was almost all season injured. So Porto had difficulties creating opportunities. That's why it's said that Porto of VP was not exciting, because of the lack of opportunities and goals.

I have no knowledge of him other than he is football mad and has studied Barcelona. He seems a hard worker and we have some great players for him to use. I will take it as it comes.. I wish him luck. I am heartbroken for Michel as he has been treated like shit, but.. what can I do... ? Lets see.

VP has come in and will have the hardest game this weekend. He will be playing Xanthi away, a game that would be tough as they are playing like a mid table la liga side atm..

This season:
Xanthi vs PAO 4-2
Xanthi vs PAOK 4-2

I'll make sure to watch that game. I'm curious about the changes he will implement, and it will be on a challenging match from what you're saying.

Lycaon

Well, Vitor Pereira sure has his fans here.
How this thread would have been different a year and a half ago...  ;D

One thing's for sure: he can't be stupid with the way he turned his image around since he became a commentator in Portugal. Before the World Cup he was only a joke, now for some he is the best football connoisseur this country has ever created.

Olympiacos is a great chance for him. Very likely to win titles and the chance/necessity to play the offensive football that Porto fans wanted from him.

That's simply not true. Vítor Pereira has always been a good coach, and there's no better proof than his track record as manager of FCP. He's not exactly known for his eloquence, especially because of his stint in the Middle East, but his teams always played an attractive and well organized football. I think most negative comments stemmed from the fact that he was linked to a few of our own mishappenings... still, he's a brilliant coach, and it'd be my #1 choice to replace Jesus if he left the club.

I never rated Michel very highly as a coach, but the truth is he's done a very good job at Olympiakos.

Very curious about Vitor Pereira. He's got great knowledge but he´s not very charismatic, and I still think that could be a problem in a big club. Anyway, expect Olympiakos to be very solid defensively,to have a lot of the ball but not very dynamic in the final third

Michel is an excellent coach. He will coach Real Madrid one day and will succeed there. That's for sure.

VP is good, not brillant but good.

He did very good job in the 12/13 season not letting the team goes down when Benfica was leading for 4 points during many weeks.

Final words by Michel on the NOVA programme.

Admits he has cried the last few days and that he will miss us a lot.

Also talks about how Affelay thinks he knows everything and how he had no problem with Kasami, who he said is a hard worker. Neither was his choice when they were signed, but he said Olympiakos came first. He mentions VP, about the fans that expect attacking football and the future.

Super super interview, I will miss him a lot and had some tears for him also today and yesterday. His 23 months was a time I was very proud to say I supported Olympiakos. He is an example of a great human. He ended by saying he loves everyone at our club and he is an olympiacos fan.

Bye Michel - I hope you come back one day. You left a big impression on Greece.

Surprisingly, Michel said that if he had to choose one greek player for his future club,it would be Maniatis  ;D

Also that the biggest talento he saw in Greece was Karamanos - what a compliment.
I had to quickly research to remember who this player was.

The weirdest thing is that every single coach that coached Olympiakos has praised Maniatis as a warrior and great professional. I just can't see it.. he was a limited right back before he became a limited centre mid... mind you, he does have guts..

I heard everything that Michel said, and realized how much he is loved by the fans, the people who work at the club and the players (except Afellay). It will not be easy for Vitor Pereira, never is, replacing a coach who did a good job and who is loved by everyone. And it seemed to me that with this interview, Michel, with what he said, will only further complicate the work of the next coach, but it's understandable. A lot of pressure will be in Vitor Pereira. We'll see...

This is exactly why I am apprehensive. We all know our football on this site and how things work. If Olympiacos were in trouble or had angry feelings for Michel, VP would be like a god send right now. The complicated stigma is that VP is replacing a much loved man who was actually a good coach also, with around 78% of Olympiacos fans not wanting him to leave.

On the plus side, Olympiacos fans are seduced by attacking football. If he can make the fans salivate with good play, he will be ok. The players are there to achieve that - Kasami, Dossevi, Affelay, Domiguez, Mitroglou, Benetiz, Fuster. Also he seems a hard worker which is important. Olympiacos fans will give him a chance.

Coaches always like hard working players. Obviously they always prefer the most talented ones but in public they will always praise the ones that leave their blood on the pitch for the team and are role models for the other players,in terms of professionalism, commitment in training and things like that.

I don't know who that Karamanos is,but it looks like he's a Olympiakos player,on loan at Atromitos. Maybe that´s the explanation for his choice.

Very good interview. He will probably return to Olympiakos one day. But after listening to what he said, his sacking is even stranger. He says that he had a great relationship with Marinakis and Karembeau and the only problem he had was with Affelay
