Seems the obvious choice. Benfica was a good move for him.
He has every condition to be a "Oscar Cardozo" type of player with us
Such a great player, it would be criminal to let him go after this
I am seriously thinking about buying his shirt
I'm considering buying Jonas'

Faliro

Buy his shirt Trap, we both know you want it.

I fear having idols
But guys like Mitroglou have something on him, this kind of essence that makes you love him no matter what, this kind of charisma and ice coldness that he has on matches even during celebrations is amazing
His goal in Alvalade conquered my heart, just an amazing how can a guy just be like that
He will be loved on the next few years for sure
The fact that he wanted to stay with us even though there were teams offering 2 ou 3 times more just gives me a lot more of respect on him
Always believed on this signing from day one, and i still remind the day when i asked if you guys would keep him in Olympiacos ;D

And remember what I told you guys when you asked me if he would fit last summer in the transfer thread? I was pretty sure Benfica officials read my response. I said he would be no problem for your team.

I agree with what you said about his essence. I watched him grow up at Olympiacos. His frustration at not getting selected as a starter in the early days - him having to prove himself at Atromitos and Panionios - even though his talent and goalscoring figures should have made him a starter. And his character.. a professional. He wants to score. He does what he can to score and both his feet have cannons. He has something a little bit other-wordly about him. Like a soldier more than a footballer.  Even when he was at Olympiacos - he would have to speak Greek slowly because german was his first language despite his Greek parents. He has come a long way. I think whatever happens, you will like him and enjoy having his shirt.  :smokin:

Its amazing how former Olympiacos players can fit so well Benfica squad and manage to be champions already on the first year

Fejsa, Samaris and now Mitroglou

We need to keep getting players from you more often ;D

Faliro

What is even more insane is how many descent players pass through Panionios. They finished 5th this season, with only one non-Greek in their squad... Their team is also very young.

Olympiacos is simply the equivalent to a very well run mid table La Liga side. Most the infrastructure is Iberian inspired.

Trapattoni

I think something that might have to do with Olympiacos is the discipline and the winning mentality that is passed through the players
This might be the biggest reason why most of your players are destined to succeed even outside the club itself

Many foreign players who have left Olympiacos stated they have never been at a club where the pressure to win every game (home and away) was so relentless. Every game has to be a win and on top of that, a win with style - especially at home. Olympiacos has the biggest budget, biggest stadium, best facilities, best technical team, best scouts, best academy etc in Greece - of not the entire the Balkans. The players know they have to win every single game. It is reinforced daily. Hourly. Even in Europe, Olympiacos do not play for the draw even when we are outclassed - Olympiacos always strives to out-score the opponent.

Benfica plays in a better league with more competition. But the mind set of the players at Olympiacos does not suddenly turn off. Manolas is a very good example of such a player.

Which is why you have been champions for this long
Its not the managers, staffs, players or anything else that makes the team
Its the mentality, and that is something that is very hard to change
You can have Sporting as an example for it since it is known to be pleased with too litle and used to loose so much

I have said for years on here Panathinaikos is the Greek Sporting. Even their colours are the same.. ::)

Panathinaikos get beaten by teams from ex-soviet muslim countries (Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan etc) in European quals all the time. Everyone is embarrassed and the media is ashamed, but the next day all is forgotten and they think they have the right to win the league.. with players Estoril's reserve team would not even be tempted by.. Their fans are called rabbits simply because every time they lose, you don't see them.. they hide in their holes until it all blows over..

If Olympiacos loses one game.. there are problems...two or three? New manager. If Olympiacos don't buy good players, the owner gets booed, that is why Kokkalis left, he was getting booed in the actual stadium!

Panathinaikos fans accept defeat after defeat after defeat... and if anyone asks them why they lose all the time.. it is because 'Olympiacos fixed the league..' Never because they are the shittest team imaginable. PAOK is similar.. They think they are a giant team.. They have won two Super Leagues! - In their entire history!! Even Larissa has won one Super League!! When I meet PAOK, PAO supporters.. I truly feel sorry for them.. they are summed up by this picture..

I would love these clubs to be run properly, I know deep down - the only way Olympiacos stands a chance of winning a Europa Cup, is if the league is more competitive. How can Olympiacos prepare for Europe by playing a season of games against teams that would be relegated mid-season in the Portuguese second division?

Just like Sporting, these guys can loose teams from clubs that you dont even know they exist like Skenderbeu or Videoton :2funny:
And the thing that annoys most of us is that they are the champions of creating conspiracys and spreading lyes just to make sure they can win
They have this obsetion over us because they want to be like us, because they feel like being like us, this envyness is huge
Benfica had an idea of playing with 11 Eusebios on the shirt shortly after his death against Porto to make an Homnage
Sporting had the very same idea to play with 11 Peyroteos against us...for the portuguese cup!
Wearing a shirt from a guy that has been dead for many years...Someone who most of them dont even know of and some guys even thought he wasnt portuguese :rir:
This is Sporting, a club that once had values, but today is mearly a shadow from the rival we once had

AEK and Panathinaikos is the same. Firstly they create an environment where referees are afraid to give a decision against them.. in case they are accused of being owned by olympiacos...Referees were beaten at a meeting they were having last month..those who beat them were apparently wearing Panathinaikos symbols.. yesterday Zeca, captain of PAO (under no pressure)  reached and and punched the football with his hand while playing PAOK :crazy2: ..it is pretty much the type of handball that you give a yellow card because the action makes the game look more like basketball than football..the linesman was filmed watching the incident (he was 1 meter away). As soon as Zeca punches the ball (the ball is sailing over his head..).. the linesman looks scared when he sees what happened.. looks at the ref.. and then pretends nothing happened..This incident happened because the refs are afraid to give decisions against PAO..

The most recent Sporting 'copying' event made me laugh.. Olympiacos have been giving food and clothes to refugees for over a year now in Piraeus.. Here are examples..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gj2NXqK1ePk

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApFYUH1LcCU

All very honourable and well meaning. AEK suddenly felt they - 'the club founded by refugees' - should not be outdone.. the problem was.. Olympiacos is based in the port of Piraeus.. The players simply walk down the street and can give charity to refugees.. But AEK didn't want to be outdone..even though they would have to come down to Piraeus to do something of any meaning.. so they decided to give out food, clothes etc.. but outside their stadium... miles away from any port.. in Northern Athens..where there are no refugees.. simply to compete with Olympiacos... you can imagine how many refugees turned up to the OAKA to take AEK's charity..

You guys heard of the footballing giants FC Gabala from Azerbaijan? From this season..

Pretty much everyone in Greece laughed at Panathinaikos being knocked out by these guys in the quals.. even people who don't follow football laughed. Many Greeks didn't even know where or what Azerbaijan is. PAOK laughed the hardest.. until they had the misfortune of playing them in the Europa Cup group stage later on in the same season..
