There's been a lot of discussion after Footballmeetsdata posted Olympiacos's Champion's League earnings.

Naturally, Olympiacos fans read this and had a massive fit. Compared to our Europa League season, this is around a €24 million increase in revenue. Last season, the club recognized the entire Kostoulas sale of €35 million on the June 30th financial statement. In the financial statement from the 2024/2025 financial statement, the club had €67 million in revenues and €44 million in total staff/player compensation(including bonuses) WITHOUT TRANSFER FEE AMORTIZATION. With last season's squad ratio at 80% of revenue, it means Olympiacos were allowed single season expenditures of €53.6 million. If we add our transfer fee amortization schedule to the wages, Olympiacos came in a few hundred thousand under the threshold.

This season, assuming no significant changes in other revenues, the club should be around the €100 million mark and a squad ratio limitation at 70% of revenue or €70 million. We estimate that this year wages, agency fees, amortized transfer fees, and salaries collectively sit around €65 million. A big variable remains with player bonuses. For this summer, that means without any player sales or prospect of UCL the club would most likely be sitting in violation of the FFP squad ratio(after the June 2026 reporting deadline).

Daniel Podence's return to Saudi Arabia will give us some breathing room as he is one of the highest wages this season including his loan fee. Even so, projected budget would probably allow for a max of 3-4 players( if purchased at €4 million on 4 year contract at €1 million wage) while we probably need at least 8 signings.

TL;DR without sales/UCL we will need primarily loans/free transfers this summer.

We ended the season pretty much how we played the entire season in the league. Aggravating, disappointing, but we secured 2nd place and at least a hope for Champions League return.

Plenty to reflect on this season as we look towards what will most likely be a rebuild over the summer. A bit of a relief for it to be over with now.

A meeting is expected between President Evangelos Marinakis and Coach José Luis Mendilibar in the coming days to discuss steps to be taken ahead of next season.

Marinakis and Mendilibar will discuss what went wrong and what next steps should be. The club knows which positions need reinforcement but decisions are needed regarding current squad. (@sport24 via BIG 4)

Mendilibar is under contract until 2027.

Following the latest report by @Nikos_Kotsis, our current transfer situation remains as we have discussed on this channel for the past month:

• 2 Goalkeepers
• 2 Right backs(assuming Costinha sold)
• Starting-caliber CB(Pirola/Biancone could be sold)
• Left-back(Ortega likely to be sold)
• 1-2 box-to-box midfielders with goal-scoring ability
• At least 1 winger
• Potential attacking midfielder(Kostoulas profile)
• Possible striker addition(Depends on Taremi and Clayton departures)
Key changes:
• Rodinei expected to permanently move to winger
• Paschalakis likely leaving
• Ortega agent has a European offer
• Podence future uncertain
• Yaremchuk return increasingly possible
• Kalogeropoulos not renewing
• Botis not renewing

Olympiacos want more quality, athleticism, depth, and experience ahead of UCL qualifiers and a push back to the top of Greece.

Olympiacos could potentially be signing 4 fullbacks this summer. Tsapras is under discussion for the RB but what about the left?

While the age profile is not ideal, Lykogiannis would offer veteran experience on the left, count towards "club-trained" for UEFA list, and assist with the "non-EU" quota in the league.

Unfortunately, he would be one of the slower players on the team as things stand.

Would Lykogiannis be an option you would consider? He is available for free after not meeting the performance option for a contract renewal with Bologna.
