My earliest memories from Benfica in the CL is losing against FC Kaisersläutern and fucking HJK Helsinki 

And then barely beating PAOK in the Pks and getting crushed by Celta de Vigo and getting knocked-out by Halmstads. Fortunately Halmstads redeemed themselves by knocking out Sporting a few years later.

AEK had a good Julio Cesar too, another one who played in portugal a bit.. he scored a goal that beat AC Milan in Athens..

Maybe suffering isn't the right word, what i mean is we  went through so much shit in the last two decades... But when you love something well there is no turning back...

Actually, that 98/99 Olympiakos team was very good. They topped their group against the likes of Ajax, Porto and Zagreb and eventually reached the UCL Quarter-finals, only narrowly losing to Juventus after a late Conte's goal in Piraeus (1-2 in Turin, 1-1 in Piraeus).

Giovanni was seen as a God in Greece and he was treated with euphoria by us. No idea Benfica wanted him also.. He is now a scout for Olympiakos.

There is a very touching video that makes me cry... the reason...one message.. to a radio station ''thank you for everything we saw from you in Greece even though u really hurt us sometimes''.

It was a message from fan of AEK..
