He wouldn't need to be a magician to go through against the worst Dnipro of recent history in a fucking neutral field. Michel's team, which almost qualified in the CL, would've done that easily.
Worst Dnipro of recent history? Elaborate.

"Michel's team, which almost qualified in the CL, would've done that easily."

Nothing more than supposition.

What's there to elaborate? They hardly have a championship to play in. Last official match was more than 3 months ago.

Obviously, I'm not psychic :P
So, because of the winter pause. They are the worst Dnipro in recent history. Makes sense.

For me if someone is taking a long run up to smash the ball at goal, it is acceptable to take your eye off the ball and turn your back to avoid getting hit in the face.

If the attacker is close to you, less than one meter away from Santana - which is where Kankava was when he shot, to turn your whole body away to protect your face, is cowardice.  Kankava can't even get the ball as high as Santana's face from that close distance.  Santana should have attacked the ball and not gone into protect my body mode.

It's a normal approach to a shot. You can't really blame the player for that. You see that in 99% of cases. Or am I wrong?

Faliro

Maybe it is a cultural thing. In Greece when a defender turns his body away from someone shooting - less than a meter away, we usually blame the defender for any strange deflection. Santana has nothing to fear from that shot. If he was 10 yards away, fair enough.. The Rule is in Greece - you either make the block or let the keeper try and save it. You don't hesitate - which is what Santana has being doing since came.. hesitating - on back passes, on blocks etc.

Baron_Davis

the lack of domestic competition isn't helping Olympiacos at all.

Faliro

yea... and suddenly all the big games at once... this one... PAOK and AEK the week before and on sunday we go to Leoforos.

Maybe it is Faliro.

But Santana, when arrives (late), he was not quick, the opponent is already arming the shot. And he doesn't make the contention right (the goal it's not well covered). But all of this originate because he followed the forward. If he didn't, he would get there sooner. Because he would depart from a closest point. But seeing the goal again, it was really because he was too slow.

Look:

When the opponent is already preparing to shoot, Santana arrives to the defensive line, where it should have been, in the beginning. If he hadn't followed the forward, at this frame he would already been close to the guy, and make the contention well. Probably the opponent would have given up the shot.

Faliro

It's just hesitation, I am telling you. You can't do everything as a CB, so you can only do the simple things well. Because of his size, I assumed he was aggressive, not passive. He is aware he is making mistakes.

And then Olympiakos suffers the 2nd goal almost immediately after. And a very unfortunate one.

How was the team after that? Down, no?

How was the team after that? Down, right?

Proactive after the second goal, but totally toothless.. not a shot on or off target for the rest of the half except for Mitroglou's goal on 90+4 that was wrongly disallowed by the ref.  It was like the players did not even know each other.

You see the team went into a slump under Michel. Not because of tactics, the team simply lost form.. it happens.. We were still winning..

VP was brought in because Marinakis believed the poor form was due to Michel treating players like Affelay badly.  So VP came in and has made one big change... telling the FBs not to get too far forward and secondly - trying to spoon feed Santana into the team. Santana was pissed btw that he was subbed.

In the highlights, it shows a play of Masuaku. Horrible. Horrible decision. If in the game against I don't know who, I saw him making that decision (of the crossing, I dunno if u remember Faliro), this play removed my doubts. Masuaku decides poorly. He has to improve.

PsychoFan

He has to stop putting Afellay on the 11. I hope that with this game he has come to that conclusion.

For me Masuaku was one of the better players .. defended well for the majority of the game. Elabdoualani played well also in attack and defence.

I saw Dossevi hit 3 crosses out for a goal kick under no pressure. That is simply unacceptable.  Everytime Affelay had the ball, he ran and passed backwards. Not what you want from a '''Barcelona''' winger. He has been shit in the majority of games he has played.

I though Dominguez played well but was subbed, not sure why? maybe an injury?
Kasami played very well.

Subs?
Milivojevic shit.
Fortounis shit.
Dourmaz shit.

Really poor by Olympiakos. Vitor Pereira won't last long
And you know this how? Because of this match? LOL

Olympiakos team is not great, few really good players. And he arrived in just over a month. A lot of games, little actual training. He's not a magician ffs. You think Marinakis and Karembeu don't know this, don't know football? Only if they were incompetent, which I doubt, they would sack VP because of the elimination on the EL. At this point, you can not demand much, it's very earlier.
He'll be sacked because of the same reason Leonardo Jardim was. He knows how to organise his team well but offensively it's just not good enough. It was like that at porto aswell.

I'm not saying he wil be sacked if he gets knocked out by Dnipro,I'm saying he won't last much longer. Will probably be sacked in the middle of next season when Marinakis gets bored with the poor attacking football
