Looks like AEK will sell out the stadium for the cup game on Wednesday. 60,000 AEK fans will be quite an image. I doubt much of their squad has ever played to such a large crowd.

Mitroglou felt a pain in his quadriceps today and will probably not play. That leaves Diamantakos, Bentez or.....Jara.. to play the striker.

Faliro, when did football get professionalized in Greece?

Faliro

Honestly I think we are still waiting for that to happen... :estrelas:

However Wiki says something like this...

The first league of professional football in Greece was officially established as the Panhellenic Championship in 1927. The league ran until 1959, when it was replaced by the Alpha Ethniki which ran until 2006 when it was then replaced by Superleague Greece.

However, I don't think this means professionalisation. I have no idea when it became professional.

I believe football in Portugal got professionalized around the late 50s-early 60s. Otto Glória contributed a lot to it, if I'm not mistaken, but don't quote me on this. There are more informed users about this.

Hey Faliro do you know some greek sites where you can see or  download Panathinaikos and Olympiacos european games from the 90's?

Faliro

Not that I know of unfortunately. There used to be a super site called tzaba.tv... They had 1000s of games, including each game in the SL. After much hard work I managed to join. However they shut down a few years ago.
