Show the town or village of your Grandfather

Thought this would be an interesting topic - if it fails - I take full responsibility! 

I noticed that myself and a lot of other friends had Grandparents from various villages and towns rather than big cities. It will interesting to learn a bit about the town and the culture/history there.

So I will pick a maternal Grandfather (mother's father) to start with.

The town is called Leonidion and is in Arcadia, Southern Greece. It is situated at the foot of the Parnon mountain range.

I immediately thought of the Spanish football team! Great video. Real cool town - very impressive surrounding infrastructure too. Love the position of it on the ridge. Also love the bit of Bossa Nova music in the video.

And we are the portuguese capital of racing!
Since 1931, Circuito Internacional de Vila Real, with some gaps over time, is the Mecca of racing in Portugal.
In the last years, we became global with the WTCC.

Since we had a change of party in the head of Mayor in 2013 (from the center-right PSD to the center-left PS), Vila Real has changed and improved a lot after 20 years of stagnation.

In 2018, we will have the conclusion and opening of 2 private hospitals.
In the upcoming years we will have a new outdoor pool and a complete reshape of Codessais complex, new construction works outsider Municipal Stadium in Monte da Forca and the Carvalho Araújo square will be reshaped too.

Good times to live here.

What is impressive is how developed Portugal is. Parts of Spain would only dream of this infrastructure.

Peniche, 90 km north of Lisbon, although some say 80, another 110...I don't know lol
