Sebá seems like he plays a different sport other than football when you compare him with an exciting talent like Manthatis.

Seba is an absolutely bizarre player, I am really glad you highlighted this. He is supposed to be a winger, but manthatis did more as a natural winger in 5 minutes than Seba did all game. I am not sure if Seba works hard as closing down space or what - but we need him to drive into the box or drive to the by-line and he does neither.

If you give Bento a free rein, as you should, then a lot of these substandard players will have to go.

Not immediately but surely by the end of the season.

If Oly is serious about this, and they should, Bento should be given space and time to rebuild the squad even if that means losing the league. But then again, what difference does a league make nowadays? You need to build for the future.

I agree fully and I believe Bento will be given time. Getting through to the Europa League has also helped his position among the fans and alleviated a huge amount of pressure. The fans are not stupid, we can see what the other teams have been doing in the summer transfer period and we know this season will not be easy. Ivic just publicly booted Tziolis out of PAOK for being too slow - so you know they are serious this season. Bento already has my vote for his use of youngsters. The Olympiacos fans tonight were very happy to see the two teenagers out there tonight.

Faliro so many talented Portuguese coaches and you guys choose the worst one, why oh why.

Why I like Chori on and off the pitch:

"Never believe that a player can do something alone. It takes the whole team. I tried to help, I was ready and gave speed to the team. It is never easy, and when conditions are difficult, but thanks to God it did. "

For anxiety:" It's the price of being in a large group. In difficult times you have to do everything the best even when things are not easy. "

For that dedicates goal:" I dedicate the goal to my wife and children, who know what passes a footballer in the world but mainly in our president is always near both the easy and the difficult. "

For appearances:" if you believe it will work properly succeed. We are patient and have time to make the changes needed. "

Well first thing to remember is we are on a budget..  ;D :2funny:

But seriously, if Bento is going to develop our youth - I am satisfied. I think we have one of the best academies and it is rare to find a coach who is aware a 18 year old can do a job better than a 28 year old on tipple the wages.

That he will.

I don't like him as a coach as I've said. His tactical knowledge and day to day work seems average at best and he's not a good man leader although he probably thinks he is.

But he took Sporting in a low point and gave them two or three 2nd place finishes with terrible squads. He was crucified for that because Sporting still has the remains of a big club but in the long run with Sporting finishing as low as 7th people realized that he was actually punching way above their weight.

Jorge Jesus is undoubtedly world class and he didn't do better with Sporting. Neither did Marco Silva.

That was done with kids. He brought up Rui Patrício, Nani, Adrien Silva, Miguel Veloso, etc.

So being Olympiacos in the Greek League he can do... good enough to be champion, while preparing the squad for the future. But if you want to be what Olympiacos used to be if you have to go back to the likes of Michel and Marco Silva, who are leagues above this guy.

A very good post ^^.

The problem with Olympiacos is we are not running in an efficient manner. For example, if these teenagers Retsos and Manthatis look better on their debuts in a very high importance/ high octane Europa Qual game - than the players in their late 20s/early 30s who we paid a fortune for - something is seriously wrong. For years we have been saying that we waste the talents from our academy. We see their talent and we send them away, Vergos came on in his debut or second game as a 18 year old and scored immediately. He looked strong and already in his prime as an 18 year old..As a reward we loaned him to Elche.. now he is on loan to Real Madrid with a €8 million buy-out clause.. ;D

Teams like Panionios develop amazing players because they have no option but to play a 19 year old for most the season - so their players develop very fast. We have too many options so give the older player the benefit of the doubt and loan the younger player.

Perhaps the next journey for Olympiacos is mastering the art of developing youngsters from our academy into decent products the way Portuguese sides do so well. This could be a new age for our club. It will also save us a lot of money - and has the option to make us even more money.

Concerning Bento, on the major private facebook groups of Olympiacos - the fans are already saying we wont win the league this year after what they have seen.. so that takes the pressure off Bento..

This guy will arrive tomorrow to sign a contract..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarik_Elyounoussi

Detailed press conference by Bento:

Expect different your official debut on the bench of Olympiacos. How do you feel relieved after the result and what you think of course about the game.

"We managed our initial goal was to qualify for the groups. We had two weeks to prepare two match very difficult.. The game was not easy to play what we qualify our value and fair despite the fact that in the first minutes of race had difficulties. we had no answers to the stationary phases. we are not happy as we had 90 minutes. in the extension we were better and fairly qualified. we hardly put the Aroouka in this match and not in the first game. it has its value and because of we suffered. but we achieved our goal because qualified for groups ".

We saw Tsori to change the image of the group, in contrast to Fortuna who came from injury and was not good. Should you start the Tsori?

"When you finish a match you to analyze such questions. It is not possible to take the blame in Fortuna, because we had poor ability to control the movement of the ball or make proper passes generally as a group. We are not satisfied in general by our team . we believed that Fortuna is important for the club should be used. However, we saw that in general we had difficulties as a team. the entrance of Tsori combined with better control of the ball. positively influenced our game and it showed that it was correct our decision to during the year we put in. we will have many opportunities to which one of them will play. "

You expect that we suffered so much?

"Today we expected that we would do best game. We are not satisfied with the way we played. Today we struggled to static phases of the opponent, but also from other times. We are satisfied with the result. We won twice Aroouka, we returned a negative result in our weight and we managed to play well three of the young players of our team. All this leaves us satisfied. we are not satisfied with the picture of the game, but from the fact that we achieved our goal. "

You took Olympiacos a very difficult time. Since there are 15 days outage, what is your plan for the group? What would you like to fix?

"The first thing to do is to analyze these games to draw the conclusions to be on what to fix. We have two weeks to work, and after the postponement of the championship we have this delay. This is something we should exploit to improve things and move players our ideas. to see it completed the roster, have the team finalized and work. "

A moment ago you expressed satisfaction with the image of a kid. This season and will get other opportunities?

"The coaches have to adapt to the conditions they are. In the past I had the reputation of a coach was using young players. It was something that was done and it was a risk. For Olympiakos was a bet. So far the opportunities given to them give us positive conclusions. they will have time to use. In other tournaments we need more experienced players, but these guys have shown good evidence, but still have a long way ahead of them. "

Bento on our Europa group. To be honest, I think most Olympiacos fans should be able to understand basic Portuguese by now.
