Walk on, walk on... :bandeiraslb2:

This is Liverpool's year! And Benfica year!

The other day, i realized this:

In 04/05 Liverpool was european champion; Benfica was portuguese champion (and we were 11 years without being champions, so for us it was like winning the Champions League);

In 05/06 Liverpool had a good season winning the European Supercup and the FA Cup; Benfica had a good season winning the portuguese Supercup and reaching the 1/4 finals of the Champions League;

In 06/07 Liverpool was so close to win the Champions League, but lost it in the end; Benfica was so close to win the portuguese league, but lost it in the end (only 2 points below);

In 07/08 Liverpool didn't win anything and didn't have exactly a good season; Benfica didn't win anything and didn't have exactly a good season;

This season there's the feeling that Liverpool is gonna have a great season; there's the feeling that Benfica is gonna have a great season.

I mean, is there any doubt that our clubs are brothers and that Benfica is the Portuguese Liverpool, and Liverpool is the English Benfica!?

Great win!  O0

Awesome post hope you dont mind if i copy it and put on our fansite? I hope your right though Bakero, today it feels like we've actually won a trophy beating Chelsea away but there's a looooooong way to go, thanks for all support shown in this thread.

As for Porto, just fuck them for now...support your team, and hope they drop points as you win!  :slb2:

Well done to Benfica this evening too! left it late but.. 3 points are 3 points! if you turn those games that look like a draw into wins you become champions né?

Very nice. I was surprised that someone remembered Isaías! He was an amazing brazilian striker that played for us during 90-95 and to be honest, he's my favorite Benfica player of all times!!

Ps: I came across with this the other day, i think you'll find it curious:

Ian Rush goal in a Liverpool-1 Benfica-0 of 83/84: http://depositfiles.com/files/j9fswdgjc

And the 3 Liverpool goals in a Liverpool-3 Benfica-1 of 84/85: http://depositfiles.com/files/95izf45u8 (is it me or the first Liverpool goal it's offside, and in the third there's an hand involved?  ::))

But it's a compliment to the great Liverpool teams of the 70's and 80's, that they allways demolished our teams, and in those years (speccially in 83/84) we had some of our best teams ever! In fact, Sven Göran Eriksson who managed Benfica from 82 to 84 (and later from 89 to 92) once said that he wanted his Benfica team to be similar to the Liverpool one. They sure received some education everytime they played against Liverpool eheh!

Anyway, back to the present days: 3 points against Portsmouth and let's hope you do well against Tottenham! We also have a very difficult away game against Guimaraes (see how our clubs are so alike  :D). Let's hope both get away with a win  :)

This time we were more lucky than Liverpool. We won 2-1, playing with ten men, during all of the 2º half.

You have to see our first goal! Beatiful assistance by Aimar and great run by Suazo  :bow2:!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yovv7CnE_0c (and yes, the referee didn't thought it was penalty on Aimar in the beginning of the video, and not even fault on that horrible agression on Suazo, but it was only different day, same shit!  :disgust:)

Nice pace shown b Suazo there.

Your game against Galatasaray will be interesting, watch out for Harry Kewell ;)

GloriosoLFC, how do you feel about Liverpool's new stadium? I've just watched some videos..It hurts imaging Anfield being destroyed..
The thing I like about the new one is that it has some charisma unlike all new stadiums being made, just looking the same...

Senhor_Beef

It'll be very, very hard to ever leave anfield. The new stadium is currently delayed and I have my doubts it will be even started in the next few years so maybe we won't have to deal with the pain! However.. we do need something bigger...

Do you guys still miss the old Estadio de Luz? (Although I think the new one is amazing so maybe that helps make up for it..)
