Greetings from Liverpool FC good luck this season...

I think Luisão's tackle is being over exaggerated. He didn't come at him at full speed or anything. He was static and went for the ball and trying to get it between Torres' legs. Yellow card, ok, red card? Even Babel's was a surprising red. Should have been a yellow as well and get on with the game, but the ref was looking for attention.

See you at Anfield.

Elvis the Pelvis

It´s sad that the majority os Liverpool fans can´t understand that those who threw the fireworks, are just 1 or 2 limited fucks. 99% of Benfica fans are against those kind of actions, and they showed just that at the stadium.

About the game itself, Benfica was the better side for almost the 90 minutes, Liverpool came here just to defend and try to score an away goal. Now it´s time for us to go to Anfield and try to go through to the semi-finals. It´s going to be hard, Liverpool at Anfield it´s always difficult, but we have faith in our team.

I have the idea that we have more respect in general for lets`s for other countrys and teams than the contrary...

Living outside Portugal, i see that a lot...they are the good guys and Portuguese and Italians and South Americans the bad ones

Ah Fuck it

Proud to be made of warm blood and soft hart>>>

We respect those who respect us...

Hi guys! Good to read your thoughts on the night.

Well, first let me get to the point that is bothering me most.. I am also very dissapointed with a lot of the things I'm reading on the liverpool forums. There are some very ignorant posts. One very important thing to keep in mind - the people who are saying "Benfica fans are a disgrace" etc, I am absolutey sure were not at the game. I believe every red who was at the game could see that the people throwing fireworks (idiots!) were a very small minority. The rest of the Benfica fans made a terrific atmosphere and were very welcoming to us the whole time. I can only speak for myself but I have nothing but respect for them. I left Estadio da Luz with my ears absolutely ringing from the noise you guys made. I was also pleased to see that, at least on piso 3 where I was, both sets of fans were applauding each other at the end, and I shook hands with many Benfiquistas who came over to the barrier.

I was unhappy with the referee, because I felt that he was giving a lot of "home" decision (e.g. booking Reina for time wasting??? He only had the ball for about 5 seconds!). I have not watched anything of the game tho since I came home so can't really comment on the other moments - It's really hard to see details from the back of piso 3!!! I couldn't work out what was going on with the Babel red, (at first I thought he'd sent Luisão off). Both penalties were at the other end of the stadium so again, I can't comment. The english newspapers seem to be saying that they were a bit soft and maybe were given because of the croud but that Carra did handball and Insua did do a stupid foul so... can't really complain.

I did feel at the time that Torres was really getting kicked about a lot but that seems to happen almost every week so again, I'm not singling out Benfica for that.

Otherwise, I thought you guys did well, it was a good game. For me, it was a brilliant experience.. Estadio da Luz is magnificent. I really hope that any of you travelling to anfield enjoy the experience there too. This game is really tight now at 2-1 and it's hard to predict the final score. I'll be away in Madeira all next week so wont be here to talk with you guys about it but whatever the score I will drink a glass of poncha for my Benfica mates.

In friendship,

:drunk: Mr. Beef [Ben]  (& Sra. Beef)

p.s. my liverpool scarf is now with a Benfiquista, hopefully being well looked after, but at least I have a Benfica one with me now to take to one of your games!

Senhor_Beef,

First of all, must say Liverpool is my favorite foreign team. Always enjoy Anfield Road, the Kop, your past squads and fans spirit. I was one of yours at Istambul and really love Liverpool. To bad our teams face eachother at 1/4 of Europe League.

Another things, i read most important forums at 'Red and White Kop' (RWK) but unfortunately cannot register just to share some information and 'talk' about both games (1st/8th April). Is there a way to register/sign up at RWK forum? Please, contact any admin or moderator and make that option available.

Finally, tomorrow i'll be out of work and have spare time to lunch near Rossio Square at a restaurant called Bonjardim: oldest restaurant with roast chicken and nice chips. You, or your friends, should try it:

Weather we'll be cool and you could enjoy sun and our beer. I'll be there with a red Adidas sweat.

And, is very near Rossio Square, where all 'Reds' will meet to chill out while waiting right hour to go to the stadium. Map, just in case:

Cya and don't forget RWK forum thing. Cheers  :drunk:

Hi mate, thanks for that post, I wish I'd seen it earlier so that we could have had a drink together. I was sat outside pastelaria suiça so quite close by but didn't have time to check this forum before leaving, which is a real shame.

In relation to rawk - they are currently not allowing anyone new to join, it's been like that for some time I think.. we have been having a lot of problems, particulaly since this season has been a disaster, of idiots signing up just to complain rather than debate, and so the quality of the forum was dropping. Having said that, I will send a message to the admin to check if there's anything they can do.

I'm glad you enjoyed the experience. A real shame for us, benfiquistas, that an otherwise perfect night was somewhat ruined by firecrackers from one or two morons. Hopefully the quick demonstration of disapproval from the rest of the crowd taught them a lesson, although I'm not overly optimistic about that.

Hoping for an exciting second leg and may the best team win  :drunk:

I saw a lot of liverpool fans singing in the streets or at "Colombo" before the game, and the only thing that they receive from our fans was greetings/laughs.

On the field Benfica was superior. Let's wait for the Anfield game now!

Senhor_Beef,

I made his words mine. Glad you enjoyed the atmosphere of Estádio da Luz (without firecrackers, obviously) and your stay at Lisbon, in general. Too bad about the result, for Liverpool fans, but I'm happy you can enjoyed all the rest. I was too at Pastelaria Suiça, some hours after lunch... maybe between 16h30-17h30. Too bad you can't read forum some hours before...

Either way, thanks for that RWK thing and hope you, and Sr.ª Beef like Madeira. I was there some weeks ago, with Sr.ª Catenaccio when Benfica played against Nacional. Don't forget to taste ponchas and have fun. Cheers.

MY VERY LAST POST ON RAWK

As far as I am concerned they are just another team from now on I will not psot on there ever again

with all due respect a complete pile of bullshit, as I have read on here, so our players where savages who eat children bla blah blah blah!! what utter shyte what do you expect from our defenders mother fucking teresa?? Torres was fucking lucky to not get booked for diving also, bable got well sent off for being a prick, insua and agger where very fortunate indeed as where your team for not getting a thrashing, I have tried real fucking hard to maintain the status quo, as I have for the last four years tried to maintain the friendship of four years ago, but some opinions on here absolutely make me fucking sick to the core, I even read one moron on here wanting to break luisao's legs WANKER!!!!!

every time and English team looses it's the opposition who dive cheat blah fucking blah u know what?? fuck it maybe some people are not worthy of consideration, some people really should take a look at themselves when posting, two morons on here even threatened our fans with violence and me personally over what a football game lasting 90 minutes??? u talk of the Neanderthals who threw those petards on the pitch YOUR NO FUCKING BETTER!!!!!!!.

I am very perturbed by all of this and very sad as well

I wish LFC no harm at all or it's majority of fans particularly the great people I have met on here i WILL ALWAYS HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE FOR LFC, BUT I can not and WILL NOT accept the lack of sportsmanship and frankly sick and stupid comments I have read.

last time u will see me on here

P.S gareth your a great sport and a gent as is cowtown it is my failing BUT somethings I can not stomach

regards to all

E PLURIBUS UNUM
