Greetings from Liverpool FC good luck this season...

Jorge.P_

It was a difficult game for us... we started really well but those 2 goals were just the beginning of the end.

I think you had maybe 4 chances and took them all! Just cynical.

Our defense had a bad night... to many mistakes.

The result doesn't show the real difference between the two teams.

Cheers

Yup I think that's true. I was watching them talk about the game on rtp late last night and one of the guys pointed out that even in the 80th minute, the game was still so finely balanced that if Benfica had scored one goal they would have won.. it was a close fought tie and I think that, in the end, it might just have been one game too many for you guys.. they looked tired.

Well, i hope we meet again in the future. You'll be back in the Champions League next year where you belong as league champions... and i hope we can join you!

Oh and about the rawk stuff, I can only really echo what my fellow red has said..  Judge our club based on the fans you met at the stadium, or in the city.... not "Barry from Bristol" who likes to post on rawk and has supported us for many years....since 2005. Our two groups of fans applauded each other in Anfield in 2006, same last week na catedral, and although I didn't see it on sic.. i am sure it was the same last night.  Unfortunately there are people on the internet who don't know how to lose with dignity but I believe this problem exists for every club to some extent..  I hope to see some of you on there again and I'll be sticking around here as long as us reds are welcome  :drunk:

That 2nd free kick that touched Torres was, maybe, the last moment of the game... it was going for the goal, for sure. And then you made the 4th... the end.

You were lethal. We usually need 2 or 3 chances to score a goal, i don't know... sometimes more (like in the first leg against you...), sometimes less. You did 4 in 4/5!

And thanks for your support

Cheers mate! And you're right, I was looking at the statistics today; you guys had much more shots and more possession (Really unusual for us at Anfield). Last night we took our chances and won, but like you say, that cardozo free kick was going in and  if it had, everything would look very different today.  Small details that aren't reflected in the final score.

If only we'd been so lethal against Birmingham last week

Yesterday was perfect for you... but that's football. It was a deserved win, no doubt...

If you play like that for the Premier League you'll do well, for sure...

I'm still kinda a fucked... it was the perfect time for us to win something in Europe. We have 2 Champs and 1 Latin Cup. That's all. This club needs more... we have 5 Champs and 1 UEFA lost. Plus another Latin Cup final. Even the Intercontinental Cups were lost!

I think in my anger and frustration I lost it a bit over the week, for that I appologise to any LFC fan who I treated less than hounerably, LFC are our frinds are a great club and deserve respect they share the same values as we do, BUT I got the brunt of a few choice idiots on RAWK, I admire LFC as much as I love Benfica, I have lost count of the many messages I recieved today on RAWK appologising for the abuse I THANK YOU ALL

Any Benfiquista having doughts about LFC read the link below, after being at Anfield yesterday and on RAWK today I can tell you they share our values they are great

E PLURIBUS UNUM

P.S Of all the great moments of Pure Benfiquismo, and awe of being in one of Football's great tempels, I have to say I was shaken to the core at the Anfield memorial to the 96 dead, TRULY SAD BUT AWESOME AT THE SAME TIME!! Seeing a name on there of a  10 year old child (Gerrards cousin!!!)!! left me in tears I promise you I was shaken to my boots

again appologiese for my anger

No need to apologise mate, it was justified and understandable.

Hope you enjoyed the trip even if the result wasn't the best for you.  Nice of you to stop by at the memorial too.. it's almost 21 years now but never forgotten...

How would you consider your chances in the Champions League next year mate? I'm interested to see it this year, as suddenly the big English clubs all, without exception, looked much weaker than in previous years... It seems that things are changing*.

*E.g. it's been in the paper today that Man Utd had to cancel a move for David Villa because they couldn't afford the 40m€ fee.. .this is the team who sold Ronaldo for 90m€ less than a year ago..

The current Benfica teams is, to me, at least as strong as, or stronger than any of the teams that Porto have had in the Champions League in the past few years since Jesualdo took over. I'll be really interested to see how you get on. The Spanish teams look by far the strongest but I think you'd at least get past the group stages.

I guess the really important thing is to make sure you get in the C.L. regulally to start to get some money in to develop the squad.

I actually started a thread of support from here to RAWK on the 20th aniversary of that awefull tragedy, believe me I was not the only Benfiquista to do so, very very moving, Liverpool was fantastic the place breaths and smells football all over, I had a great time and even the result did not spoil it !!!

I totally agree with the last setence, mate.

About the rest, we have to be realistic... Benfica is still struggling to regain national dominance and European status. But honestly, i do think that we can do some serious shit in the next CL. With some key players (Left back, GK, Franco Jara already sign and two or three backup players), the league in the bag and after a year of good work, we can be a very strong side.

Some players may leave, unfortunately... David Luz (CB), Di Maria (LW), Ramires (CM/RM), Cardozo (ST) are being linked with foreign clubs. 2 or 3 should go... Di Maria and David Luiz are the biggest candidates. We will need to search for proper subs. But nothing is certain yet...

And well, we need luck too... in think that in the past 2 games the 2 best teams in Europa League faced each other. Standard, Wolfsburg, Fulham, Atlético, etc are all weaker. Benfica isn't the luckiest club in the world, these days...

We'll see, mate... cheers and good luck!

Good luck to Liverpool in the rest of the Competition. It´s obvious you´re the better team, so i don´t think it will happen a major surprise.

For us, it´s time to win the Portuguese League and try to retain the better players for next season´s Champions League. I hope we meet again next year, but in the final. :)

Cheers!  :drunk:
